I'm wiring up an aftermarket kit (first time doing so), and I have pretty much everything hooked up according to the harness and the unit diagrams.

I also spliced into the wires because I'm wiring up an ASWC-1 unit for steering controls. There is one more connector in the dash though and I'm not sure what it's for. Maybe my Google skills suck but I couldn't find what it was.

That almost looks like extra plug behind one of the switch plugs.
For example, it could be the connector for the fog light switch or VSC switch.
I think Toyota used the same wiring harness for a lot of different models and optioned truck.

It likely goes to a switch that your truck doesn’t have the option for from the factory.

I’m pretty sure I have and extra plug behind one of my black switch covers.

Are you working in the area left of the steering column where the Fog light switch would be?

If you’re working on a radio, you can ignor my post above.
I have no idea what the plug is for. I still have factory radio. Never seen behind it yet. Hopefully I never need to.....

The factory radio in mine was wonky when I bought it, so I didn't really feel like waiting on buying an adapter, and I don't plan to change it out after this aftermarket one. I just needed something with Bluetooth capability in this truck which I why I ended up going with what I did, just a cheap $80 Boss double DIN unit. I still have no idea what that extra plug is for...I'm guessing something to do with maybe the AUX or CD player on the original unit, but I didn't need it. Wired up the Axxess ASWC-1 which still doesn't work fully; I think it's because of the head unit I got and it being so cheap, plus the fact that it's not listed in any of their manuals anywhere. BOSS lists it on their webpage and gives a number to program with, but that ended up not even working; had to program it for something else to get it to work (halfway). Overall I'm happy with it. It does what I need it to do. Here's a finished picture: [IMG]
