I'm going to be wiring these low voltage LEDs using a T-tap and I'll be mounting them to the lower part of the center console (just above the aux input).

    These:

    Mounted here:

My question is, would anyone recommend using the shift indicator light or the hazard/clock light wires to tap into? Both would allow dimming? And if I remember right, I'll be using the green and white stripe/green wires?

    Thank in advance!

You could tap into the dimming circuit that goes to the stereo.
Have you thought about doing the cup holders as well?

Right on, how many LEDs can I wire in to that circuit? Have you by chance seen a wire diagram for that area around?

Ya I saw a few old threads on it, and I'm definitely considering the cup holder next to the shifter.

After I get this lower console spot finished, I want to mount these to bottom of the doors. I'm thinking I'll tap into the dome light circuit so they will turn on and off and work as a semi puddle lights.

LEDs draw very little power. There would be no issue adding 1/2 dozen on the same circuit.
I have a 3rd Gen so I don't have the wiring diagram but if you use a voltmeter it won't be hard to find the illumination circuit you are looking for. Note, Toyota uses the (-) for dimming.

I have installed LEDs in all my door pockets and tapped into the illumination circuit in the control panel on the door.

I also did puddle lights and combined footwell lighting tied into the dome light circuit. I can upload pics if you want some ideas of what it looks like.

Very nice! I'm planning on putting the puddle light position right here.

If your doing stuff like this having a voltmeter can be a handy tool.

Weird thought or comment. I have a third gen so they’re slightly different but we turd genners have an led in that spot. It’s weird - because of the way reflections and angles and all that happen in the cab and body paneling, you can see the reflection of the light in your rear view on the back glass. At least in a double cab. I thought I was bat shit crazy, I knew what it was but whatever. Until I saw another person comment about it too

@oostroma so I took a practice swing. Decided to do the armrest console. I remembered from the climate control swap mod that the I'll+ & ill- were green and green striped. Both wires to the shifter are green with 3 white marks and figured that they were the same. Used the multimeter and I was right.

Turned out great, just wish it was a bit brighter but it'll do. Super stoked that it dims. I'll post here when I get the other ones in. Thanks again for the advice.

Looks good. What ohm value is the resistor on the wire? If you wanted brighter you can test by adding another resistor in parallel. Using the same size resistor will 1/2 the the resistance.
