Looking for specific information for the wiring mods needed to switch for switching from displaying the backup camera in the mirror to displaying in a new aftermarket head unit.

My 2013 had a 6 volt backup camera which I believe quit working. I have installed a new 12 volt camera and obtained a new Aniovito head unit. So seeing as I now need 12 volts to the camera I want to use the reverse trigger wire to power the camera as well as signaling the head unit to display the backup camera.

So i assume I have to splice the red trigger wire into the black wire for the camera feed and also splice the red wire from the rca connector to same reverse trigger wire. I also assume I have to solder the shielding from the rca wire to the shield in the harness that previously went to the mirror. Is that the sum of the modifications needed to the wiring?

Is there an existing thread that covers this in detail?
