Wiring Rough Country Light Pods with DRL to turn on with DRL lights

The original setup doesn't have a relay setup, so according to diagram on switch I'd need 2 relays. If I could get some help on what I would need to accomplish this setup that would be great. BTW, this is my first post and very intrigued on how much help is in this forum. Thanks again

 

It’s doable and you asked nicely so we can start a DM. I’ve found it takes me a looooooiioong time and gets in the way of other stuff as a result. But I could maybe re-think things and do something functional but less intense and maybe get it done quicker.

can you document the 3 colors and their signals? Red is power in? Blue is backlight and white is full power?

 

So wires for the harness that feed the original toggle switch are,
Red- positive
Black- ground
Blue- ditch light
White- DLR lights

 

Ok, that’s everything we would need outside of switch illumination which I can do with a cargo T.

Ill see if I can carve time for a simple solution.

Not yet. It’s in the back of my head if I get a moment. Hauling horses today/tonight. If you really want something fast then go grab two relays and I can advise on what wires to connect and you can diy.

 

That would be great. I can do the work, just suck at figuringout what wires ho where. Should I get 2- 30amp 4 pin replays to start?

 

That or hold tight and wait till I get to it.
You’ll also need a switch illumination T harness, most likely from kmorgan3’s stash depending on where the switch goes.

the connections you’ll make are

1. 85 on both relays to ground on the RC harness.
2. 30 on both relays and power in to the switch to power on the RC harness
3. 87 on one relay to the light bar on the RC harness
4. 87 on the other relay to the backlight or secondary output on the RC harness
5. Switch illumination + and PWM - to the switch inputs for illumination and ground.

which leaves only two connections from the switch, output from the top button to 86 on one relay and the other output to 86 on the other relay. Save this for last so you can plug it in and test before making the final decision. Or refer to the color charts on the switch and what you’ve identified.

Total of 11 connections I believe with two being 3 wires together.

I’m slowly clawing out of the hole I’m in. This and one other custom request are on my list of stuff I would enjoy doing when time permits. I’ll keep it active for now. I’d actually like to offer a formal product to do this since many of these light bars have such ugly switches.

 

OK, bit of a crazy stretch but there's a small chance I might get back into this over the weekend. I'll let you guys know. It'd be nice to get something done which could be a bit of a universal custom switch harness.

I never did get started on this. Hah. I am started on a full solution for @mynameistory and 4 runner headlights.

Rather unreliable I am on this topic. Keep bugging me I guess? The on menu stuff keeps coming in and that is always first priority since the money has already been paid.

The stress of having money won’t help. I did honestly forget about this. I can put a note on my workbench to remind me. I have pockets of time once in a while but they aren’t frequent.

@Tacoblaster01 gave me a good reminder of why I just don’t do this anymore. Spent about 6 hours I didn’t really have. Me == slow I guess. Anyway, DM me a shipping address and I’ll send this out. It tests out good with the 2 button switch I have so I’m guessing it should work ok.

 

Hey @daveeasa wanted to say I did receive your harness setup last week. I left out of town same day it showed up. I'm in the middle of buying a bobcat so hopefully in a week or so I'll let you know how it goes. Thank you sir

 

Did you ever find a fix for this? im having the same issue with my drl lights i dont know how to plug them into my AuxBeam controller.
