I’m starting to work on my retrofit project and I’m still having a hard time figuring out what to circuit to tap into for the DRL functionality on my switchback halos. My 2010 does not have the factory DRLs.

I want the white halos to serve as DRLs whenever the truck is running but turn off if the parking brake is on (or engine off but ignition on ACC, either way) and if the headlights are on. Basically I want factory DRL functionality.

Is there a circuit I can tap into to accomplish this without installing the factory DRLs? Is there a DRL fuse maybe? The kicker is I don’t want the factory indicator DRLs to come on with the halos, I’ve made it this long without melting my lenses. I only want the halos as DRLs, plus I like the look of just the halos better.

If there isn’t a circuit to tap I don’t mind installing the factory DRL to trigger the halos (just seeing if there’s a cheaper option first) but if I do that is there a way to disable the DRLs on the indicator lights? I really don’t want those on all the time. I’m not against snipping wires if that’s possible as long as they maintain their functionality as turn signals.

Worst case I’ll figure something out with relays tapping the ignition and headlight fuses to trigger what I want but was hoping for an easier and cleaner way.

Sorry about the long post. I’ve just been doing a ton of reading on this one and can’t quite figure out the best way to do it.
