I was thinking of ordering this tailgate light bar:
    http://www.autoanything.com/lights/74A6218A0A0.aspx
If I get the one with white back-up LEDs as well, could I just splice into one of the hot reverse light wires in a taillight? I only have a 4-pin towing connector..

    Thanks,
    MT

As long as the light doesn't overload the circuit, you should be able to splice into the reverse light wire.

I've actually seen these on people's trucks, in use. They aren't that bright, disappointing considering the advancements in LED's lately.

Ohh, was wondering that actually. May just get a pair of cheap lights and hook those up for extra back up lights. If I overload a circuit, I would have to replace a blown fuse right?

I just repurposed some Hella FF75's under my rear bumper (there are two bolts on either side of the trailer hitch) and those are my supplemental BU lights. I wired them to come on when I shift into reverse. To do it right, you really need to have a relay.

You would have to replace a fuse, but if the circuit was overloaded it would continually blow a fuse.
