I almost thought about having to air down for the mall speed bumps on the way home.

after airing up and down every day for the last week, it was weird not seeing any trails today. Although I did still have to get out the compressor because one tire was 2 psi lower than the other 3 for some reason

My fronts are 1 psi less than my rear. Whoever aired up my tires last didn’t get them all equal :boink:

no, the Missouri river is flooded over the interstate in Iowa here again and the road out of town is closed

i fought a similar issue for more than a decade, I only had one flat puncture that needed patched in over 100k miles, pretty sure I picked up that nail in Iowa somewhere :stirthepot:

Yeah, in case you weren't aware...most National Forests have Motor Vehicle Usage Maps that show which roads are open to vehicle traffic and also where dispersed camping is legal. You can find them and download them from the USFS website. You can then use Avenza app on your phone to view the downloaded maps and you can use your phone GPS to show your location.

Thanks for the info. I'm still deciding on making some used ipad/tablet device into a gps with an app like onx or gaia. My other option is buying a dedicated offroad gps like a magellan tr7. My phone is actually old by today's standards and won't handle a gps app like that.

I'm thinking of buying a small tablet for the same purpose.

Let us know which GPS app you choose. I have Avenza for reading MVUM maps and GAIA as well, but haven't really used it much.

GAIA seems to be the most popular, but everyone will probably have different preferences

I wasn't thrilled with Gaia on our trip to WY. It showed roads or trails or whatever where there were none.
Does On X Offroad show you which roads are currently closed because of a recent storm?

Gaia is as good as the map you are using... some are awesome, some aren’t great but that’s an issue with anything. With Gaia you have lots of selection.

Can you get that to work on a wifi only ipad? Or do you need more connectivity than that? I don't want to buy the wrong stuff.

I use a cellular iPad as it has the GPS receiver (you don’t need an active celluar plan, just the hardware). With a WiFi iPad, you can pair it to an external gps unit for it to work.
