@Peeing on Jeeps the pipeline is a dirt road with a couple of puddles and rocks. If you expect more, you'll be disappointed

I'm going to camp with some friends, eat some food and drink some beer. Driving the pipeline is just a small part of it.

Yes. If you want proper rock crawling with in 4/5 hours of home, you live in the wrong state, hell you live in the wrong half of the country. We all know it won’t be Moab or Colorado or California. It’s ok. It will still still be fun.

Mine is a daily driver (120 miles per day) and it’s about 2 yrs from payoff. Did I mention I’m married and my wife thinks off roading if completely senseless and idiotic to use a new vehicle just to damage it.EB97E8CA-4E63-431A-9DC4-410B9B8BD0F3.jpg
I have no armor except the factory 2017 TRd sport metal skid? ( it says skid plate but my drip pan on my bbq grill looks to be more sturdy. I have tires that are ok for the trail but nothing that’s puncture resistant. I have 4 wheel drive but no locker. No sliders. I still have the chin strap/front air dam on it.
I have zero lift . The 2017 trd sport sits 2-3” lower than a stock Trd off-road . That being said I drive it over 100 mph daily on the highway and moving in and out of traffic like it’s a sports car. Will I try something stupid on a trail to push the truck? Probably. Will I try to climb boulders? Ahhhh no.
I’ve been in some nasty swamp/ bog trails in SW Michigan and got pulled out by a tractor (a 2wd truck) and a dried up lake bed and got pulled out by a tow truck.
If my wife is with me very little testing of the truck will be done. If I go by myself I hope that I don’t break something having the “hold my beer” moments.

13535FD2-84D7-4805-ABE8-69D6E823299D.jpg The whole reason I’m going is to meet some great kids that think like me and have some fun and maybe kill a beer or two. The wheeling will be icing on the cake and if I break my truck I hope somebody has a extra room at their place.
I dare not go home for a day or two. LOL

This was my skid plate earlier this summer.

There’s nothing in the Midwest that requires more than a factory truck

I’ve run mine all over the country. Truck is factory aside from the tires and lighting.

My wife hopes I break something. When ever I do she stands there “See, I told you”
I was doing 100mph on Bonneville and I told my wife to take some videos. I turned off traction control and starting doing donuts and power slides. My kid was laughing all the way.
    Priceless

Here's a clip from the pipeline. This is probably the most extreme section.

This looks pretty challenging to me.

I guess the rest of you guys drive through shit like this every day, though.

    You're describing the pipeline.

You're welcome to come out and see it.

I'd love to come see the trails in your neck of the woods sometime. I might try to get up that way in September or October.

Every day! Keeping up with traffic in the Am

Some times I touch 104-105. Everyone says the 3rd gen sucks and has no power. Mine moves from 50 to 90 mph then at about 103 it’s just a slow up tick to about 115mph

You have some stones, Randy! I grazed 100 a few times in my 2015 and in the 4runner. These things aren't really built to go that fast.

I'm guessing that sport has a better suspension for high speed.

Nah. I’ve been driving fast since I was 15. Took drivers ed in Chicago suburbs and we would get on the expressway. I would be doing 70 mph on the ramp and let off the gas. My instructor started screaming, “ don’t let off the gas till you merge with traffic.” Again I repeated to the instructor “I’m doing 70 mph on a ramp.” He said “don’t let off till you merge with traffic.”

Highway 25 that runs through the center of Colorado Springs is 4-5 lanes wide and bumper to bumper going 70+ MPH.
The first year I went there it scared the crap out of me. Now it’s old hat. Punch it when you get on the ramp and don’t get off the gas till you either get to a crash or the exit ramp.
Lots of crashes every day out there.

The sport is a pretty stiff suspension. The stock tires were Hwy tires. I just switched to the A/T Revos and handle good. I think the chin strap/air dam does help with mileage. 9367A9A1-2928-4FFB-92B0-BCF60016BE76.jpg
Driving like a ass I still avg 21.7 per fill up

Don't get me wrong, I've spent many mornings going 30+ over the limit in traffic. But, above 90 MPH, the Tacoma was a bit sketchy!

Yup, I've been avoiding that area whenever possible.

And I prefer cruising around 70 as well. The truck seems to prefer it as well!

I’m sure it’s lighter. The highway is pretty straight and flat. Hammer down. My wife told me to put cash in a jar every week for tickets. In Utah, driving I-80 in the salt flats, speed limit was 80mph.
Doing a 100mph and was getting passed. It’s not a corvette and it’s top heavy. My truck sits lower(17 sport) than most Tacoma’s (off-roads,pro,etc)
I have the stock sport suspension and it sits several inches lower than a TRD off-road . At 80-85 it sits around 2200-2300 rpm. Once you get it up to speed it Just cruises

You don't have enough stickers or patches to have more than 5 hp. Don't lie to us.
