I'll have to check this out as well!

This sounds like another good reason to visit the UP!

Oh there will be some mods all right
Oh man, just saw you tagged me. So the most recent review from two years ago says privately owned and closed to the public so I don't think there is much to see. That being said, between the city of republic and the City of gwinn there is lots of great exploring to be done. Many great gravel roads with some lakes mixed in.

    Thanks! It was pretty neat
The UP does sound interesting to me too….even if we can’t visit super secret “abandoned” (wink wink nudge nudge) military installations.

In fact, I’ve been thinking this might be a neat place to explore at some point. It’s way out there, but still interesting…https://www.visitdrummondisland.com/off-roading.html

I've seen a few videos on Drummond Island. It does look like a very interesting place to visit.

Super interesting reading. One of the pdfs states a bull was kept on the grounds to test for negative health effects. And Michigan forestry researchers said the ELF transmitter made the trees grow faster. Weird stuff. Also, at 60hz, apparently it’s not considered radio???? Well, what the heck is it? I’ll have to keep reading.

These sites do bring up questions in my mind though…Did the site glow like a super dim florescent light if viewed from the moon? Maybe wisconsin and michigan sasquatches grow bigger because the transmissions? Where did the bull go? Does the existence of this secret project explain allegations of reportedly rumored bipedal elk? Did the site cause the creation of the “chupacabra del norte”? Have we been mistakenly confusing hind-leg-walking elk for sasquatches all this time?

….Who knows…. I’m just asking questions here. And in my opinion, a lot of them seem to be unanswered. You be the judge!

I have to admit guys, I've been looping around blocks with speed bumps for that Tigerton rush. You've ruined me and my wallet.

But in all seriousness really enjoying the pictures of Bayfield and @wi_taco 's adventure. I've managed to convince the wife to tag along for Tigerton and maybe Wyalusing. I'll be solo deep for the Biergarten.

Got some Toyo AT3's lined up at Discount Tire after winter but now I might wait for some of those Ruggeds:mudding:

Seems like I'm hearing more and more reasons to go explore the UP.

I figured there wasn't much to see of the base itself. I did think it was neat that there is a trail that goes right behind the facility
The Clam Lake base is now just an empty field with a suspiciously perfect square of interesting grass.

A friend of mine just came back from there and had a blast.

I won’t be able to make this. I’ve had a event on my calendar for 3 months now. Honor Flight Fundraiser at South Shore Bowl in Cudahy.

5331A676-6347-4A25-A95A-CBC490052C4F.jpg Anyone in the area stop by and help raise some cash. 50/50 raffles and other raffles during the day! They have a fully stocked bar and food is available.

Hmmm. Saying they kept a bull on premises says nothing about how often it was replaced….

So how often would you say you they served beef on base?

Hope to add more videos in the future. It still won't compare to Monkey Mountain.

I have just returned 45 mins. ago from the pilgrimage to The Promised Land. We arrived on Sat. and scored a campsite only by the generosity of a lone camper that let us share his site. Planning to arrive on Sunday would open up a greater probability that we could take over an entire campground at the Ledges area. We had the place to ourselves Sunday night. Saturday night the whole place, 5 Ledges (i.e. campgrounds) were party city.

Lots videos coming from Fins and Things, Hells Revenge, including Hells Gate (spoiler, I did it) Top of the World. I was treated like a rock star getting my stock 4R up there. The Jeepers were impressed. I was letting a Jeep pass me on the way up and he wanted to stay behind for the entertainment. I will get the vids up ASAP, but I have to wait for my bud to send them. He is as 'puter illiterate as I am.

Any thoughts on going to Moab in Oct? This past week it never broke 80* or got below 50*.

Awesome, looking forward to the videos! I agree this time of year is perfect there.

Which way did you go at the split on the top of the World trail? Right or left?

Since you were gone I did start a thread for a trip next year https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/midwest-moab-takeover-2023.780877/#post-27937819

The left is one way, down only, and it is the hard way down. The right is two way, and is the "easier" way down. My rear bumper hates me, but it's still there.
I attempted the hard way. 1st obstacle was too much for me, and my research indicated that it would get worse the further (farther?) you went. Had to turn around and go down the "not as hard way". 2 Jeeps wished they had followed me instead of their egos.

Don't you remember our little soiree at Tigerton? One always goes LEFT! I have read that left is more interesting on that trail...
