Yeah, but the with the silver sliders, a silver bumper may be a bit gaudy. I have 4 mos. to decide.

I rattle canned my sliders. The rusto didn't last 3 snowstorms. Salt blasted to bare metal. Stripped 'em (that was fun) and applied POR-15. It's holding up very well.

Well......yeah! But I have no control over the lead time. It'll get here when it gets here. Dad always said, "If it's worth having, it's worth waiting for".

    Sooo ....... I wait.

KBS Coatings. Aside from my foolish application of the Rust Seal product I really like what they have to offer. Sliders are holding up very well to road salt, however I am noticing some chips from rocks since I removed front mud flaps (but that's my fault not the paint).

Amazing photos as always, thanks for sharing! I remember you posted some of the October trip but I wasn't there to know what all it entailed. Some amazing shots in there!

Black. Go black. You'll never go back. Just do it, don't think, buy ya some black paint. Black.

So if your bumper has a minor injury in Moab it won't hurt so bad knowing you have a new one on order.

I used the Rustoleum truck bed liner on my bumper, and it's holding up very well, aside from some stone chips. I should probably touch it up this year.

My understanding is that POR15 will fade in direct sunlight so it needs to be topcoated. If I remember the instructions correctly last time I used it.

Easy to touch up is always my vote on bumpers. I’ve had good luck with rustoleum pro grade rattle cans or your local body shop can mix you up high quality single stage paint in a can that will last longer than most off the shelf options and can be made any color

What if the plastic cover doesn't go to Moab? Would look wonky, but it wouldn't get beat up or broken.

You remembered correctly. I used silver on my sliders. The protective coat was very, very nice. Smooth, shiny, consistent. I was super proud. The top coat was a nightmare. Very deep brush strokes over the whole thing. The silver was really hard to work with. Looks o.k. at 10 ft.

But if you get closer, they look like a chimp painted 'em with chopsticks

Youre wife is wrong but I guess the world cant be perfect lol! But no they don't have Toyota colors. You could get some Toyota color match paint and use KBS' Diamond clearcoat which should be pretty tough.

I’m guessing that bumper is high enough to avoid getting sand blasted, as long as you can fit some mud flaps to it.

I think silver would look good on the cross member! If you’re not sure, just rattle can it. Easy enough to change your mind later.

I think you could make something up for the plugs with a little creativity. Maybe even a thin cover to wrap the back and underside of the crossmember…kinda like the gray fascia the OffRoad trim has.

Do you think you’ll get a tire carrier?

I'll have to fab some brackets for mudflaps. The bumper doesn't appear to have a way mount them. I ain't doing silver on the cross member. I want that to be as inconspicuous as possible. She gonna be black. I found some plugs on Amazon, that look like they could work. We'll see.

I thought for a long time about getting a tire carrier. In the end, the carrier would be in the way, at some point it'll probably start to rattle, which would drive me crazy, and the $500 up-charge wasn't worth it to me.

Doh! Reading comprehension fail! Now I see that you said silver or nauti blue for the bumper and black for the cross member. Lol

I think it would look great in nauti blue!

Also, you had mention departure angle wouldnt be changed due to the receiver. But I bet it would be easy enough to remove it quickly for those times you really think you’d need the clearance. I think it’s only 6 bolts

The new bumper doesn't have any recovery points, hence I need the receiver. I really struggled deciding on this bumper because of the lack of recovery points. I'm usually a "function over fashion" guy. But I like the look of this bumper better than any of the others.
