I plan on leaving about 11 Thursday morning. I have a tent and a pop-up shade.

You know, if you leave at sunrise, you'll have plenty of time. It's what, 2 1/2 or so hours for you?

This time last year I got off the plane from Alaska, went home and changed, then straight to my daughters graduation. Easy.
Oh, and unknowingly at the time, I even was suffering from covid.

About 2 hour drive, but the deal with the wife was that I'll be home Friday night. Thought about coming up Thursday night but I don't have the tent on the truck.

I have conceded that there's no way I'm getting the sliders cleaned up and repainted by tomorrow. But, I don't want any excuses to not have fun this weekend, so I'm slapping them on in their current rusty, half painted condition. I expect nothing less than constant heckling over this failure. :D

If nothing else, they can be an example of the cons to those on the fence about getting top plates.

Yep. I didn't want top plates, but the wife insisted. I made her cough up the $150 upcharge. I wasn't payin' for them.

I've got the top plates also.
    Wife got to choose.
I told her that I wasn't going to be bouncing off of rocks. I wanted sliders as a "just in case".

It sounds good on paper. But, they just provide a place for mud and dirt to collect. And, they don't improve the function as a step.

Ha! Same. I didn't plan on really needing mine when I ordered them. Turns out I did.

Like Jonathan said, we'll be up Friday morning. I’m planning to set up my truck tent.

Got under the truck tonight and installed the front braces for the sliders (no top plates ) so they're ready for action. RCI neglected to send the mounting plates that fit inside the frame up there. They shipped them quick, but I almost forgot about installing them. I also cut off the ends of the extended U-bolts I bought when I installed the axle shims in back. Need that extra 3/4 inch of clearance!

So far, it looks like decent weather. Cooler nights should shut down the mosquitoes a little bit.

Is anyone planning on hanging around Sunday? I'm not in a big hurry to get back home and actually have off Monday. Willing to do some exploring.
