Yeah, I don't think you'd be able to push it from the outside.

I just looked them up again...you may be able to insert them from the outside. Hey Pat @pearing, which ones did you get again?

Yes there is a tool to do that,
has threads on one end which screws onto the valvestem and a handle about six inches long with notches to grab the rim,
screw it on bend it over the rim and push, rips the stem at the rim.

Useful for seating new ones too. If you're real good, you can break a new one... :anonymous:

I have never seen one that can be installed from the outside.

I used one of those when I was slinging tires at Firestone. As @OldSchlPunk said, you can remove the stem from outside. But, they get installed from the inside. I don't think there's any way around that.

Sorry busy last night-was a beautiful night for fishing. I have Colby stems and they go in from the outside. Just need to get the rubber ones that are in there out to the out side...

@pearing , I may have missed it, but how long do you expect the Friday run to take? I'm thinking Friday would be better for going to the festival, but it will depend on how the day goes.

That depends on how stuck we get. There is some exploring as well but doesn't have to happen. Its about a mile and half up and the same back. Took me most of 4 hours last time I went up there. With a group, at least that long. I got over the first obstacle that I winched last year on my check a week or so ago, but I did not even try the second one this time. Out of camp by no later than 10. 15 minutes to the trail. Lunch on top. Some exploring if wanted and back by say 3-4 at the latest. Should work for Bayfield visit. Of course, this is all just one broken bolt away from a complete cluster fluck... Just say'in.

I may have a valve stem remover I will look in my toolbox. Not sure I have the one that screws on to valve stem. But like everyone has said the back of the valve stem ends up inside the tire. I will look this week and bring it along.

I was planning on 9:00 a.m. start time on Friday. But, we could even try to get on the road a tad earlier if you think it's necessary.

I know that Carlos and Tim are not doing the Friday run. So, I guess whoever is left. You and I, and three others.

When I was doing tires, there was a tool that yanked out the old valve stems from the outside by prying against the edge of the rim. Getting them in from the outside is a whole different story, though lol.

Should not be an issue. I cut about a foot and a half off of mine. I don't think we have any other 4Runners going on the Friday run, but I keep forgetting who is all coming.

@pearing I will bring this along and you can use it until we meet up again. I don't do tire work anymore and it is just collecting dust.
