You might want to get a motor vehicle usage map or something of that nature. There are sometimes roads on the MVUM that are not well marked otherwise. In Wisconsin, these are usually logging roads or fire roads. They are usually worth checking out.

This thread seems to have become that. I could change the title.

    I just changed it:D

    Good idea!

I had thought about it, though. I'll change the title and add polls as needed to keep it current and relevant.

There's several events that I want to repeat next year. Especially the camping trip!

I would be extremely interested in helping with this! The pipeline was almost completely lost years ago. It was a combined effort of off-roading groups and the DNR/Forests service that saved it.

I'll show up with a chainsaw and whatever else is needed to keep the trail open. A group effort would be much more beneficial.

I posted a link to that article towards the beginning of this thread. I'd gladly pitch in towards keeping a decent off-road trail open in this state. I don't want to have to drive across the country to enjoy my truck.

I still intend to make it out there sometime. Maybe next spring??

Thorp is only about an hour and a half from where I’m at. When were you planning on heading out again?

thanks for the heads up! I’m pretty stock so that may not be a great idea for me with my old tired taco..lol!

on a separate note I would like to get a decent lift put on less than 2 inches so you guys know anyone in the area I can trust to shoot me straight on what all I need and not rip me off with cost?

There's not anything challenging on the trans Wisconsin adventure trail. There's a few areas that are muddy, so just make sure you have decent tires. Most of it is gravel roads.

For a smaller lift, you could put bilstein 5100's up front and do an add-a-leaf in the rear. I would check out @HeadStrong Off-Road for options. I've heard nothing but good things about their service.

Naw you’ll be fine stock. @GQ7227 made it with his old tired taco.

It’s mostly gravel road. Nothing difficult

True! And he ran the pipeline with us which is way more challenging by comparison. That old first gen just keeps ticking.

it can still hit 90mph on a smooth freeway like a champ :hattip:
the suspension could be a bit better probably, that is still original stock for now
    no leaky LBJs yet!

only once have i ever been stuck that i could not get out without a wrecker to winch me out! it was a bitter cold day in early 2oo4 after a weekend blizzard off the i80 in Iowa headed to Des Moines, found myself spun around backwards in an almost 3ft snowbank (up to the bottom of my door) probably at least 30ft off the road :anonymous: and not wearing my seatbelt...

it was not exciting! i remember having to wait awhile (it was still light out) for the Iowa state trooper to stop and crawl through the snow to check on me and then give me a ride to the nearest gas station (several miles away) to call for assistance.

i still had the stock tires with treads like this (spare) that got snow packed very easily. I would've also had to climb up a small hill,
the ones i have on now i have only tested out in about 1ft of snow with no issues
