I knew acting totally clueless would get a good response, along with clarification.

@Taco-Grinder - I'll trade libations for some of those pills

    @wi_taco - there's always room in the Luv-Shack. I call little spoon

@rubbersidedown - they should bring the Rav. It's perfect for a TWAT run.

Most people dump the X-REAS when the shocks crap out anyway. Cool concept, but too expensive to replace.

I wish they'd offer full time 4wd on all trims, and bring back multi-mode.

Agreed about the wheels and tires. But, I wouldn't start cutting the body up unless I really wanted to get into off-roading.

Hey! Hope things are going well! Plenty of room for squatters on the April trip yet. ;)

Yeah at five grand for the set without labor. It's not worth it. Easy to remove though.

Don't have to cut up body lines, you're just pulling panels and plastic pieces off and replacing them with "lower grade" SR5 stuff.

Wow, this all took off last night. Hope you guys have a great Saturday. I am a 1/2 cup of expresso from hitting the highway... rocks and mud are calling. Sure hope I get a dent and scratch or two........... In the skid plate.

Keep making little tweeks to the Arkansas route... still room for more. It shall be one for the books. Rivers, rocks and good eats! Oh, and most likely lots of mud. You can bag three jeep trail badges too-I mean if you wanted to and that sort of thing matters to you. We also get to meet @CygnusX191 (since he lurks north but doesn't drive north...) I think all the goods are locked away in our Arkansas site but I'll share the itinerary here as a teaser:

This is in GAIA. Click on the items and see the day by day routes. Then go find the videos on YouTube... :https://www.gaiagps.com/map/?loc=9....folderId=d51e0fc9-7c59-4116-9a8e-1aa9d8a80650

Glad I tagged along. Couldn't think of a better way to kill a Saturday.
Sliders were definitely needed, though I didn't walk away unscathed.

That's what I'm here for, the mods and the gear.
Literally laughed out loud at this. And that's impossible to do when you're drinking, so spit out my drink too.

Sounds like it’s several farmers that open their land up to play around on. A big playground for the offroad enthusiast. There were a lot of trailers that pulled in and a lot of paths, well, we left for them. :)

Well... Finally got to experience Apple Valley Farms. Rolled in a bit after 8 am. Took half an hour to get through the registration line... there were a LOT of Heeps. $40 and let the games begin!

    Registration.jpg

Found @bkhirTaco's (Brian) and @Stoney Ranger (Dave) waiting for me in the camping area. Good meeting everyone, and a quick air down.

So, Apple Valley is a series of ridges, fields and farms. Really cool use of the landscape that was also very much anything but flat. It was clear and about 12 degrees as we got started. 4-6 inches of snow everywhere. A word to the wise... don't start on the yellow trail. Go drive the green and get a feel for the place. We started on the yellow trail...

The yellow trail stays on the west side of a north south trending ridge. The trail goes up and then goes down. Luckily we were following a couple of tracks that had gone before us. These were not mild ups and downs. These were hard and slippery. I had no idea that Brian was green and we really should not have started here... but we did.

I have to say I am constantly amazed at how freakin capable Alf is. That silly 4Runner made it up several slippery rutted hills that it really had no business conquering. ATRAC is not helping Dave understand that he needs a locker! We wandered like this to the far end of the trail and lost our tracks... which might have been a clue NOT to continue. After a bit of problem solving a route finding we found ourselves at a rather long steep off camber PIA climb to the top. Dave and I walked up and wrestled a log that was in no way going to help our summit bid be successful off from across the trail (right at the top no less!) The walking was WAY harder than the driving-very slippery and steep...

    Trying to climb.jpg

Eventually I made a summit bid. Dave was standing in my line at the top and I wasn't stopping, thus the great shot of my gas door!

    SorP.jpg

    Panick at the top.jpg

Brian just walked up it like no bodies business and Alf, after an initial struggle also climbed. Right. Up! Victory at the top.

We continued to wander around. Place got busy at some point and we had to wait in some rather long lines. People getting cocked and winched out , people stuck, people just being people...

After descending a rather sketchy icy trough, we spun around and went back up. Here I give you Dave and ALF ascending the slough... Notice the smirk at the top!

A lot of wandering then ensued. Some fun little challenges attempted and conquered. As Brian found out, the trees were VERY tight is a few places. Would have enjoyed watching the long bois working their magic!

    Ya baby!.jpg

    Tight.jpg

Overall a fantastic day of play. Brian is the real deal-nary a squak despite being thrown in the deep end fully clothed! The end...
