I hadn't realized the frame had threaded holes.

Granted I purchased my sliders used but there were several bolts about that same size, included.
There is literally no place for them on my 3rd gen.

I don't think the Tacoma has threaded holes for the sliders....@ least 3rd gen degens.
There were a couple pcs/brackets on the driver side that had to be temporarily removed (3rd gen).
I don't remember those being threaded, either.

It was a mixed bag on mine. The one that got sheared was the transmission cross member bolt underneath the frame. One on each side.

But we pretty much ran into the same issue as @Stoney Ranger. Threads were pretty bad. Dean was able to use a tap on the driver's side. We got that bolt all the way out but it was a PITA to re-thread.

If you have them definitely take them off with hand tools. Maybe even soak the damn thing in penetrating oil the night before or something.

My theory is that the bolt is exposed on the inside of the frame. Gunk and moisture most likely get in and start corroding the threads and bolt.

We managed to get 5 bolts on one side and 4 on the other. I'll have to mess with the different sizes another day to see what else fits. RCI says up to 6-8 bolts on each side should fit. Gotta say though they feel pretty solid just with the 5.

I only have 5 bolts on.
Mobtowns have this arm for the front frame so you don't have to try and get a nut in there but the nut is on the outside.download (6).jpg
All my nuts are hanging out. :blahblah:
Damn near impossible to get a nut on the inside on some.

Been running my RCI sliders with 5 on one side, 6 on the other for years. Still super solid.

I can see the two spots to drill up front, and while that isn't scary.... It also isn't necessary. Unless you're building a super rock bouncer crawler mega ultra moon lander race car buggy.

    Of doom.

Remember you still have to attach the RCI supplied plates up front. I think there are 3 more bolts there. They'll be plenty secure. I had quite a few line up on mine on the long boi and they've been thoroughly tested, can easily support the truck!

It was fun wrenching last night. Of course when you're watching the car shows they never show those bolts that are super stubborn or break. Everything goes smoothly and a job like this takes 20 minutes per side.

Today's veteran fund raiser was a success. 110 vehicles were there. Mostly Jeeps, 5 Toyotas, RAM pickup and a real old Ford.
Next year I'll get the word out sooner, so we can get more Toyotas showing up.

The food at the Mineshaft was pretty good too.

I think they must have brains…enough to do a running calculation of how to thread a needle like that.

Maybe it’s imagination that they lack…As in imagining what an “almost successful” attempt looks like. :p

They’ve also probably practiced 100s of times in a different location to hit their marks. It’s definitely not the first attempt and hoping for the best
