Labor Day sales are starting up. If you need a Gucci fire extinguisher, here's some help to afford one without selling body parts on the black market.

Was at a local orielly’s a while back and impulse bought a set of crows foot wrenches. It’s been a few times now I could have used one here and there, so figured it was time to get some. Today I go to find a spot for them in the toolbox

I know! It’s guaranteed! In fact, when I bought it I though to myself “I’m probably only going to use the 12mm, but it’s good to have a whole set anyways”

For some reason I thought leaving out the only size that is used ALL the time from sets of tools was a trick they used back in the day. Didn’t even occur to me they’re still doing that. Dammit, I should have just bought a single 12….but nooooo, I had to be all fancy and get a whole set lol.

This is pissing me off more than it reasonably should

Oh, all 8 are there. Also, to be fair, the sizes are on the tools themselves. So a sharp and skeptical eye should have caught the fact this was a “starter” set.

I don’t understand the logic in leaving out the 12 and including a rarely used 22mm that has twice the raw material. Besides some foolish thought that they’d make more profits by selling me a single 12 for half the price of the whole set.

I’m getting worked up! Somebody get me my pills!

Looking at your set, I'm wondering why an 11mm and not a 12? I'm not sure I've ever used an 11mm wrench/socket. (Though I have both)

I don’t get it either. I recall back when I first started buying tools in the Sears/craftsman days, they sold nice big “mechanics sets” with nice storage cases that skipped commonly used sizes. So you had to go back and buy a few more for a ton of money. And they didn’t fit in the beautiful case that came with the original kit lol. That was back when sears/craftsman was the only game in town for good tools.

It makes shrewd business sense to screw with the customer, to make them come back to buy the expensive single tools when you’re the only game in town, like craftsman was in the sears days. But nowadays, it seems stupid.

It’s not the end of the world, Just a pet peeve of mine ( if that hasn’t been made abundantly apparent.)
