Your windows will be a bit frosted in the morning, but that'll go away.

Too windy to weld today, so I took care of some garage cleaning and made some mounts for my traction boards.

...and now you're thinking: wait, 3rd gens don't have rails on the front of the box. I scored one off fleabay for $43 shipped last week. :spending:

    Some tips:

    1. It's counter-intuitive but crack the windows where you can to help with condensation. That will be your biggest enemy in colder temps. If wind is coming from one side close it off there but crack the others, even just a tiny bit. You'll figure out the best way to handle with a little trial & error.

    2. Make sure to have some kind of thermal break between you and the bed. Sleeping right on the bed is going to be C-O-L-D.

    3. Don't give up if your first night isn't comfortable. It takes quite a while to get things situated.

    Have fun!

Thank you for the advice, I appreciate it! Does the opening a window thing still apply when you're not using a source of heat?

    Mine do....

Yes the point is to let condensation out. You're breathing alone is enough to code interior windows then have them frost over.

Can confirm with @CygnusX191 - after a number of nights sleeping inside a vehicle, air flow/circulation is key, just like with a tent.

This is good advice! I sleep in the back year round (without the canopy.) Get a good insulated pad.

3 of us slept in a pick-up bed. When the sun hit the topper the frost melted. We got rained on inside. A very rude awakening. We ended up just leaving the back door wide open for 4 nights.

Had a kid in scouts back in the day who refused to use the vent windows on his tent in cold weather... Woke him up one morning my shaking his tent and making it snow on him. Glorious.

Well, first night in the topper is complete. Not the best sleep I've ever had but also definitely not the worst. Learned some things to make it better next time. I also now know the very worst part about sleeping in the topper when it's cold: having to get out of the sleeping bag lol

That’s the worst part about sleeping in the cold anywhere lol

Yeah. It got below freezing most nights in Moab. 1st couple of nights was in the teens.

The crazies will give this a "like". @pearing, you get a pass.

Since we got back from Moab, I've been getting warm sleeping. I've been pulling the covers off the bed.
