Sometimes I like to take a swim when I'm fishing. Don't judge.

I've been wearing the old school wool bibs for 20+ yrs. Keeps the wind out and won't get cold even if they get wet.
Many people use their Carhart insulated pants or bibs.

    edit: very similar to these
Premium All Wool Heavyweight Wool Hunting and Shooting Bib Overalls to Size 5X in Adirondack Plaid Pattern Made in Canada (as1, alpha, m, regular, regular) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BNGNWYNP

As long as you don't experience any mid life horizontal shifts they'll last forever.

I print product catalogs for Eskimo and Ion. The ice augers look nice but everything else looks like over priced garbage that might make you look cool but isn't going to help you stay warm or catch fish.

Went with a coworker once. He picked me up with my 3 tipups and bucket of minnows.
He had a nice gas auger. pop up tent/sled, heater, fish locator. Fancy pants and gear.
Caught 1 fish to my 8.
    I just laughed

Carhartt doesn't make anything that's worth a damn on the ice. And, it has nothing to do with the flotation. The Ice Armor stuff is warmer, and it's waterproof.

Just wear shorts and this whole discussion is mute... just say'in.

Edit: had to see if I could find some fishing pictures. Unfortunately I am taking them, but rest assured I am in shorts, on a frozen lake, in February, on a cold and windy day. Marengo lake with some good friends and their parents a few years back. Nothing fancy, just cold beer and good memories.

Edit edit: Notice my oldest child reading a book rather than fishing. My wife and youngest are in the shelter. Geez.

We have an expression in the iceboating community for those going out on sketchy ice:

I'm not saying you're stupid - you're just unlucky at thinking.

Even experienced people fuck up sometimes. There's nothing wrong with taking precautions.

Yeah, but... If I'm buying new bibs I can get something waterproof, windproof, lighter, with a lot of pockets designed by anglers for anglers, safety feature that they float and all for the same price or less.

I think @pearing did that intentionally to see how long it would take @CygnusX191 to correct him.

Speaking of ice fishing, I actually have a gas auger that I don't use. I might be looking to sell it in the near future. If anyone here is interested, let me know and I'll get you more info. It's actually my Dad's, but he doesn't want it anymore, and I don't use it.

Shop teachers are crafty like that!
They were by far my favorite teachers all those many years ago.

I don't have one because I always go with people who do.
Wouldn't mind having one but if someone else here absolutely needs it by all means they can have it.
