The reason I modified the frame and moved it up top is that the tire is so big and there is not enough room under without loosing serious departure angle clearance. The first thing to hit now are my hammer hangers and if it’s that steep I might want to rethink what in the actual frick I am doing…

    Simple solution,,,
Just don't get a flat tire.
    I know
    I know
    That's easier said than done.

Nothing that a can of starting fluid and match can't fix.

The not liking hinges was a joke. :D
I wasn't sure if, where the tire sits now, there was room to leverage something underneath to help prop it out. In the space between the tire and the cab.

I was thinking weld a couple of steel tubes similar to what one would use to hold shovels, rakes, etc. on the headache rack (or drill big enough holes in the rack itself) and use a 1" bar (vertical) that has the horizontal piece attached. Use a block and tackle to raise and lower the tire. This way it could be stored with the tire. I don't have the know-how to attach the horizontal bar other than welding it. Maybe a piece of pipe that is capped and welded to the horizontal piece which would slide over the vertical piece and swing side-to-side.
    Hope that makes sense.

We sure do. Last years calendar it was pretty easy for me to pick out the ones I took. Now I'm not exactly sure. That's a good thing although it means I need to step up my game!

How about just putting a tree saver strap thru the spokes so you can lift it out.

I do like the Cutwater cocktails. The Mai Tai is pretty decent, they go down really smooth on a hot summer day which can be a problem as they are 12%alc. @rubbersidedown turned me onto their whiskey mule at Tigerton and I try to keep some in stock at all times now.

Would it be possible to weld a winch mount on the headache rack and use your portable winch to remove the spare?

I kinda like the "just use a strap" idea.

We have a smaller, swinging, stationary boom at work similar to what you're describing, to lift a metal cover off of a pit in the floor.
There are 2 pulleys on the "horizontal' pc for the cable that is raised and lowered by a handcrank like you would see on a boat trailer.

Edit: not the best pic but I knew I had one. Steel plate on floor is heavy a.f. and that boom lifts it.
cable winds up in the box on left, removable handle connects on the right.
