it’s always fun when people get on the 5g conspiracies. You don’t need to worry when you have a Facebook account you post every detail of your life and a phone always charged in your pocket giving them all the data’s.

Guy at work bought a new house, took us 10 minutes to find his address, all his old addresses, relatives names, phone numbers, old Twitter account he didn’t remember having.

Most people’s lives aren’t interesting enough to need to worry about Alexa spying on you lol is it possible? Sure. Likely? No. Doing some basic math on aggregate bandwidth and storage that would be required will melt your brain. There’s far easier ways to get useful data.

if a product or service is free, your data is what’s valuable.

people both over and underestimate technology lol

These days privacy and anonymity can only be found in the dictionary and history books. :(

All true, but it's also funny when the state can't find my tax filings (they'll send a receipt saying I've paid, but then never updated anything) or when I can't get a property tax receipt from the county government because they "can't verify my address"

But then Amazon/FB know my browser history, how many squares of tp I use a day, how many charge cycles are left on my two way radios, and which hot wheels cars are in my collection.

Can Amazon do automatic delivery of T.P. based on what someone tells Alexa is their daily usage?

    Asking for a friend.

Cleared every day, but real time cookie data transfer is a thing. (I'm sure it has a different name). If I'm in the process of looking at something, Facebook will reload the ads in a different app.

I've been trying to say web3 browsers give you more control and block a lot of that garbage.

Kinda like how any time you goto the doctor, you need to fill out your medical history..

Oh they don’t even bother with cookies any more lol they figure it out based on IPs and device identifiers. That’s also why if you goto a place you can get ads for what someone else has been looking at or for that business specifically

For anyone on iOS, turn on the app privacy report. In a couple days, it’ll tell you everything an app reaches out to. It’s interesting and terrifying

if anyone wants to get real crazy, block Facebook, instagram and twitter on your router. there's more to it than just blocking Facebook.com because they have a ton of domains (.com, .net, fbcdn.com, fbcdn.net, etc) they use but on my Eero theres a filter that'll take care of it and block them all.

its very interesting how much the internet changes once you do.

For the Firefox browser the NoScript plug-in blocks scripting when you visit web sites. You can allow what you need to navigate the site and still block all the ads, also will bypass the paywall at many news sites.

Seem to recall you recently mentioning that your fingers got frostbit a couple years ago and they're now painful in colder weather. I'm just here to learn from others. :boink:

    I'll be ready for Arkansas!

And I usually wear my composite toe Danner work boots for wheeling. @Thatbassguy is gonna call us buttercups now because he wears flip flops as his footwear of choice for wheeling.

He does it so he doesn’t have to take off his shoes to check the depth of the water crossing
