You can't work remotely? Sorry, I don't actually know what you really do. I just know it involves technology.

Are you going to get some kind of financial support from your employer?

I got laid off (position “eliminated”) middle of February. Otherwise, yeah I always worked from home anyway. No severance or anything, just a call that lasted 20 seconds that said we are eliminating your position and today is your last day. HR will be in touch.

Pretty shitty after just shy of 5 years but I’m not really all that surprised. I don’t think the company is gonna be able to survive this - 90% of their business is in the education sector and there’s not gonna be beans for orders after all this. I’ve talked to some of the guys that are still there and they’ve already cut OT for any hourly people and it seems in another week or two more people will be gone.

I’ve been in contact with 4 places so far about positions, which is honestly more than I expected given how things are currently. 2 of them have gone on hiring freezes until they see how this shakes out. It’s weird times for sure.

I’ve got unemployment from the state that’ll go til September ish. Hopefully I’ve found something before then.

Sorry, I didn't know that. That sucks! You'll probably find something better once this whole situation turns around.

    Good luck with your search.

I was planning on finding a new job later this year anyway. It’s all good. I’m sure I’ll find something sooner or later. Worst case I can always be a farm hand for a while once guys start getting in the field around here which should be any day now.

Shits spicy out there guys, stay inside.

We're on high alert and full PPE on basically all calls. Work is pretty exhausting, but we've got a good crew and a decent stockpile of supplies. Hopefully we can all pull through though.

If anyone has a discord account (it's free and easy), my friends and I host a server so we can all chat/play video/board/other games. Hit me up if you want to join in!

Semi-related: if you/your business has PPE of any type that isn't being used...contact your states DHS. We're about to hit a critical shortage of isolation gear nationwide, which is uhhhhhhhh bad.

Busy, but good. If you tell/PM me more about the department you're applying for, I can get some better info. I had a ton of friends go there after UW. Most of them like it....but it's pretty busy and can burn people out quickly.

I've been transitioned to working remotely nearly full time, only coming into our office if necessary for conducting webinars, etc. Other than that, trying to use this as a time to work on back burner projects and stay active, both mentally and physically.

This reminds me of my grandpa's cellar stockpiled with food and supplies, as he grew up in the WW/depression era. Didn't make sense to me at the time, but it's a whole lot more relevant now.

So about this safer at home stuff... Too bad it's in place because I might be in Kenosha weekly for a bit. I've been in a hotel here since Monday working EMS on a construction site in Pleasant Prarie..

Northland Electrical Services. We're doing some work at some food storage facilities. I was down there a few weeks ago, but now I'm in Waukesha.
