Me, too! I might like to do another similar trip soon if this goes well. You're obviously invited!

Hey @Peeing on Jeeps. Since I am getting a new rear high clearance bumper my truck and having my shocks and coilovers rebuilt, looks like a winch is out of the question for me for a while.

I was thinking about getting a come along like you used on our pipeline adventure. Where should I find one? And it was a chain come along right? Not cable? What rating would suggest? 3 ton? Thanks!

Fair enough, but I wheel and explore 4x4 roads solo a lot. A lot of work is better than being...

I have a hard time buying cheap (buy once cry once) The smitty’s seem appealing but all the chatter is they are shit. And warns are... damn expensive.

I fly solo a lot as well. I feel a lot better about it having a winch.

@deekyn , I installed a Warn VR EVO 10S and it wasn't much more than the off brands. Wireless remote, ETC.

Run those Maxtrax parallel with your truck so you don't have to climb up there twice to get them down once

    I had a good weekend with @BEAR_KNIFE_FIGHT .

We ran the T.W.A.T from Sparta to Thorp yesterday, and then headed to some land I have access to. We drove down an old easement road and through some mild but fun terrain to the beach, and set up camp and grilled out.

This morning, we went back to the beach (what wasn't underwater) and took pictures for the Instagram likes. Unfortunately, I'm not on Instagram so I'll just put these here...

Logical, but usually the camper shell rack is reserved for the kayaks, so the maxtraxs get the front rack. Seems easier to have to hassle more the one random time I need the trax than every time I want to load the two kayaks for adventure.

Don’t we all wish we could go camping... even dispersed camping is closed in WI right now... https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/cnnf/home/?cid=fseprd731255

The Chquamegon-Nicolet National Forest is worth exploring in WI. The one rocky road in the state is there (the Pipleine trail)

The UP is also awesome. Don’t know if camping is allowed up there right now or now.

It depends on your camping style. Closing campgrounds makes sense when they try packing as many tiny homes together as they can.

Dispersed camping? Yeah your probably fine. I think more of the reason that is closed is to reduce need for SAR and fire crews from people being idiots.

As @deekyn mentioned, the national forests have plenty of poorly maintained forest roads, and the pipeline trail.

It's a good idea to get an offline map app like Avenza, Gaia, and others. I use Avenza maps to view Motor Vehicle Usage Maps, which can be downloaded from the forest service website. This will help keep you out of trouble, as some roads are closed seasonally, or limited to certain types of vehicles.

Also, it's worth checking out the Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail. This is basically a scenic ride across the state on gravel and dirt roads and 2 lane highways.
