I recently put on a high clearance rear bumper. Spare won't work in the default location anymore.

Yeah, you'd have to make a custom carrier for it, but its like 35" between the frame rails and 38" between the rear axle at full bump and the end of the frame. That's where I'm likely going to put one of my spares -- seems like a good way to get weight down low and well balanced.

FWIW i have high clearance front and rears as well

Fit issues with his new HC bumper. Hitch pushes the tire back into the diff housing.

I spent to many years trying to solve the spare issue. For me with the bed it was on top of the rack-I never found a bed mount location that worked well enough. I feel your pain though. Eventually I will have a full canvas (military style!) snap on cover for the flatty.

I use a ratchet strap. And, I also pray that I never get in and accident.

My wheel and tire combo is ~90#. o_O

    Edit: what about a 35? :D

In addition to clearance issues mentioned above, I didn't like the chance of it getting damaged while while screwing around in the rocks.

Finding a way to rig something like this would give peace of mind: https://www.amazon.com/SmartStraps-...+tie+downs+straps&qid=1729620605&sr=8-23&th=1

I made a new cross member and set mine between the frame rails from the top over the axle. Room for a 37 when the time comes.

This was nothing more than a gratuitous Ute shot.
