I mulch mowed today while May was out biking. When she got back, she was miffed because the leaves were harder to rake. Can’t win some days!

Well, I just saw an AI video on youtube with robot Indian engineer accent that explained to me what a recirculating ball steering box actually is on the inside. Mind Blown! What I though was horse and buggy Jeep tech was instead an ingeneous little compact machine, and now I understand why they are so tough.

So that got me thinking, if we’re willing to put up with death wobble from the 6 or more linkage connections needed to make them work, maybe this old tech can be a good long term replacement, which would free us from the worry of blowing up our steering racks with the weight of larger tires.

I have yet to find the time to watch an AI video on rack and pinion, so I may be full of it.

AI isn’t capable of lying to humans right??? I’m assuming it’s all part of robot law…

You gotta put on mulch blades!!! Or at least sharpen them. Mine are about as sharp as the backside of a knife…maybe even the handle.

Yeah, I need to do that, they are duller than butter knives right now.
I didn’t know they even had a special blade for mulching.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Up until the '80s, almost all cars had recirculating ball boxes. Cars only had wobbles when tie rod or link ends were bad. Heeps tend to wobble bad because of the huge tires, especially if the alignment is off or something is worn badly.

Or instead of all that... Just throw in a Land Cruiser or Tundra rack. They fit with very little hassle and if it's a Land Cruiser rack, the tie rod ends will be the same width that you need anyway. And just heim joint your ends and that solves all your tie rod problems while you're at it.

Or the steering dampeners are dead or any one of a thousand bushings and linkages go bad or solid axle problems or...

I am a big fan of chase lights on dusty trails. Especially if you are near the back of the convoy.

Honestly it doesn't look bright enough to cut through the dust tho.

I can vouch for the effectiveness of the S1 pod as a chase light. Never had a problem seeing Dean on dusty trails in Arkansas.

Ditto. I topped up my tires after all this fluctuating temperature messed up the perfect equal pressures I had going.

Saving up for the suspension is making me take the equivalent of a nicotine patch with mods.

Saw these and reviews seem to be ok. Buying that battery scored me some AutoZone credit. Only paid $10.

I usually stick to Rain-X wipers cause the windshield wiper fluid is stellar and they seem to last longer for me.

I'll report back and see if it's worth the hype.

It is super true in the lighting world, you get what you pay for.

Not every light needs to be the with the perfect lens and the absolute most excellent temperature color but... Just saying

Oh there will be some mods all right
I would say in the lighting world 70% of the cost is paying for build quality and customer service. Cali raised LED pods are probably 75 percent as bright as my rigid pods for a lot less money but the build quality and warranty is much worse.

To be fair, rigid makes some of the best lights ever conceived by mankind. And I'm fairly certain their top-notch stuff has alien Tech in it.

Another example was my KC light bar I had in the bumper of my first Tacoma. Fantastic warranty and build quality, but for the price, The output was lackluster and I am confident there were several light bars on Amazon for half the price that would have been just as bright.

Did you tell her that you mulch them so you don't have to rake them?

I love my rigid stuff. I’ve had zero issues over 5 years of abuse. I had a bar even survive hitting a deer somehow

I’ve got a heretic bar in my tundra (rigid wasn’t making a 40” amber at the time). It’s been good and made in us

Build quality is a lot of it. I’ve seen many cheap lights that look like garbage after a year. My rigid still look new.

the cheaper ones the seals also seem to have issues with discoloration or water ingress
