@Camerasandcoffee spoke highly of this one and I got it before TWArk. Holds the phone extremely well in either portrait or landscape and is quick to load and unload. I didn't want a vent mount, so it checked all the boxes for me, but probably blocks a bit more view. I do have a giant phone though. If considering it, get the long arm.

Windshield mounts are great until they fall off. Some are definitely better than others tho but I’ve yet to see one that survives the range of Midwest temperatures. I much prefer some kind of fixed mount, especially for off road use.

There's a pile of hardwood and a fire pit outside and some pork steaks and eggs in the fridge.

    I have an idea.

It survived the TWArk trip, never fell off, and we was bouncing around. I wouldn't have recommended it to @pearing if it fell off even once. I know how he rolls. I was following him.

You can mount it anywhere on the windshield that works for you, or they also sell adhesive disks if you want to mount it somewhere on the dash. I tried a couple different windshield spots, all within my reach and the phone USB cable never really got in the way.

I thought I might use it everyday, but I prefer to just toss the phone on the wireless charging pad most of the time. It's great for wheeling though so you can snap pics and record water crossings and such, which I did in Arkansas.

This fall @pearing took us down a road almost as bad as FR327. I was having flashbacks to the spring of 2019, when the 4Runner lost its innocence. o_O

I've had a few decent ones. They tend to last a year or two and then fall off on a hot sunny day, or in the middle of winter. Once they fall, it seems like they never stick as well again. I figure $20 every other year is a fine trade for not drilling holes in my dash.

This looks good-not sure about the mount. The Hondo Garage looks like it has a stronger mount, and... with the black Friday discount they are close enough in price to go that way. Its only money and there you have it

Relentless Fab hybrid bumper, 2.5” Dobinsons IMS lift, RCI skids and sliders, block heater. Painted FJ Steelies. Was trying to keep it stock, now slowly building for the Wisconsin trails.
I am surprised at how well it holds. It hasn't fallen off yet even during hard washboard/off road driving. I don't use it all the time so maybe it would not hold great in extreme cold.
