All the Tarrant things in Durand are named after our family ;)
Well it's the pool and park now.
The original store is long gone.
Wonder if you'll run into any Mocks or Olsen's. Those are my mom's cousins. But they are a bit towards mondovi!

Have a good holiday everyone, and stay safe. I don't wanna see you.

Remember, this morning was the last morning someone woke up with all 10 fingers...don't let it that someone be you!

Looks like my next mod will be a new windshield. :annoyed:

I got a stone chip yesterday and it's spreading fast!

    20200705_201038_HDR.jpg

Chip is right above the passenger side ditch light.

The ditch lights attach to the hood.

Interesting, I've never had an issue with them. What did they do wrong?

I could write a book. Long story short, a rear window replacement turned into $7500 worth of damage due to their incompetence - Dented the cab, Deep scratches in the paint (down to the metal), Ruined interior plastics, Glass pieces everywhere. It was a disaster. My truck was in the shop for 10 days after that getting fixed. It was 6 months old and <20k miles at the time...

They've replaced two windshields on minis in the family, no issues. Guess we have a good one near us.

The more you get into it, it’s not surprising why there are issues. New hires are put through a one day class, then turned lose on customer vehicles. Anyone who is good at glass work, realizes they can make more money at an independent shop instead of a chain.

there’s a lot more to it than just popping it out and putting a new one in. Throughout the process I talked to quite a few different shops and they all pretty much said the same thing. Insurance companies use them because they are national and everywhere and have cheap rates. Shops usually don’t use them because they have had issues with them. Or if they do use them, it’s because they have a close relationship with someone who works there. I went to about 10 different auto body places and I think there was only one that had safelite do glass work for them.

I'm calling for quotes today. I hope I can get this done without any collateral damage.

Sounds more like a local shop issue rather than a chain issue. The one replacement I had done the guy had his supervisor with him to sign off on his training.
I forget the number of installs he needed to do before he was turned loose but it was quite a few.

Could be but its not the first complaint I’ve heard of safelite. If people want to use them, have at it but its not worth the risk to me and I’d rather no one else have to go through the experience i had.

Actually... I have had 2 days of quarentine prior to surgery after my covid test. Besides that I've either worked as an on-site medic or been at EMS M-S since before we had the stay at home order... Sundays are spent doing my week laundry packing my shit and returning to my hotel..

It's great I got a discount on my car insurance automatically.. and I've driven every day except the 2.. and added what almost 8k miles to my truck now?
