    Look what came in today!
    Uniden Pro505XL 40 channel CB
    9451CD9A-B63F-42E8-8A7B-48B31DF9E95C.jpg
It’s a Cheap starter CB with the PA switch. Can’t beat $39 shipped and included a magnetic antenna.
    http://www.walmart.com/ip/Uniden-PR...am-703-HC-Center-Load-CB-Antenna-Kit/50705164

After driving the Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail and having zero cell service, I knew I needed something!
Now I gotta get this thing installed. Looked also at Upgrading to the Firestick this fall. I just didn’t want to deal with tuning it . The PA horn to be installed under the hood af a later date !

You are correct. Mud is the most common lake name in WI.

If you're looking for emergency comms, getting out of your truck and screaming will do about as much good as a cb. You may want to look into sat phone

Definitely! I’m going to try and use the mag mount till hopefully fall.
I’m looking at a few options. I’m going to order the Rago bracket and trying to decide 3ft or 4ft Firestick.
    Opinions??

    thanks!

After this is all over, I’ll be there!
I appreciate it. I’ll even bring beer

4ft. Also those ragno mounts tend to rub against closed tailgates. A mate or two in STL are kinda chipped about that

Hey, anyone is welcome to hang out here!

I actually hope to get up to your neck of the woods to do some exploring soon. Florence, WI is about as close as I've been.

    Welcome!

I thought the Rago was the route I wanted to go. ($46)The wire tucks behind the bracket. It seems like a cleaner look on install.

Maybe that’s why it’s rubbing. A ton of Tacoma tailgates are way out of alignment.

What about the Cali raised mount? ($25)

    749E8293-917A-4488-BBC5-77144B81AE92.jpg
Is it a better bracket? I know it’s 1/2 the price of the Rago. Hell with the cost savings I can upgrade the spring , connector, and antenna cable!!!

    I’m a newbie with cb’s.

I stopped at the PINECONE RESTAURANT in Deforest, Wis. They have CB shop upstairs. I asked him general questions and what I need to upgrade my unit. It was like he couldn’t be bothered. He told me that setup wouldn’t work and I need to mount it to the front bumper. I had cash and was ready to buy. Yes it was 15-20% higher priced, but I figured I was there and would buy it that day. He told me to go watch my youbie tubie videos......
Then he said bring your truck here and I can tune it if it’s set up right. I asked him again to lay out the parts I need for a 2017 Tacoma and I’ll take it home. Again he told me to watch my inter webs video where I got my radio....
Yes!!! i made the mistake of saying I bought my UNIDEN CB online (Walmart). He was maybe 70-75yrs old and I’m sure someone has wasted his time as he was explaining all this stuff and then they didn’t buy parts from him. I get it. Online shopping is 20-50% off retail. I tried to buy from a mom and pop shop but now I will unleash the full POWER of being a cheap bastard and use the internet to my advantage!!!!!
    Lol...,

Thanks everyone for all the help!!!!

Get what you want. I have Caliraised ditch light brackets. Despite some guys trash talking about Caliraised, they seem to be perfect for my needs.

I just want to get what works. just disappointed the CB shop didn’t want to show me what I needed. Who knows what he’s been dealing with. Maybe he’s on the verge of losing everything due to a smaller customer base or Covid-19, etc. it’s hard times and businesses have been boarding up. Had a pocket full of cash, and wanted to burn it !
Not sure the best place to mount it now.

I’ve been looking at Ditch lights. Maybe Thanksgiving sale(Black Friday) I will probably order the Caliraised brackets for those. Not a priority since I don’t see myself trail riding at night. I want to hit all the National parks in Utah. That gives me till June 2021 to get those!!!!

It’s a cb shop on the 2nd floor of the pinecone restaurant/shell gas station in Deforest, Wisconsin (N. Madison). We met there when we did the New Glarus Brewery Trip a few years ago for breakfast.

I was there. I don't remember any CB shop. But, I wasn't really looking for that. I was more interested and getting some food. Thanks for setting that up again by the way. That was a good day
