Sad to say that these might be someone’s ultimate upgrade that they have waited forever to do. Me? Slummin. Oh well at least they work and the truck is usable. Old ones (which are quite new) are off to Florida

I was curious about this, as the closure was originally set for 2 years, which would have it reopening this year. I tried downloading the latest MVUM for the Lakewood/Laona district through Avenza, but their website and app suck. And, unfortunately it seems that they now have exclusive access to the MVUM maps. I might try emailing the forest service at some point to ask if they know anything.

Of course, the closure only affects law abiding people. When I passed through there last summer, there were plenty of tire tracks going in and out of the section off Buck's Ranch road. So, the locals are likely continuing to screw things up for the rest of us. It doesn't help much that the forest service doesn't even attempt to mark the closure in a way that people will notice. IIRC, there was just a tiny little sign tucked into the trees along the side of the trail.

This whole thing is irritating, because I'd really like to attempt the rock garden again and see if I can get through the section I had to bypass previously. Plus, there were other fun sections I'd love to do again. And, Bearpaw was always nice for camping.

Any of you hooligans had the rear axles out of a Tacoma rear end? Seems I have a seal weeping/leaking. It has been slowly getting worse, but now seems like it wants attention. Assuming missed debris from the Moab debacle caused this but who knows. Advice? Videos I should watch? TIA

I really hope we get to go back there sometime. It's definitely not Tigerton, but the Pipeline had a kind of charm to it.

Even if we can't do the main trail, I wouldn't mind a trip there maybe later this summer or in the fall to camp and maybe run some of the other side trails that aren't necessarily all that challenging but just fun to drive through.

I had the passenger side out of my 1st gen to replace a seal.

    Advice?
    It isn't that bad.
Buy 2 seals incase you warp the 1st one.
They need to go in straight and flush. Any kink will cause it to leak again.

What do you keep doing to your rear shocks? Seeing the same failures?

Good question. Riley and I spent a lot of time working on this and I made changes to the mounts etc. Bought beefier Tundra shocks too. I think I killed the Dobisons through a mistake on my part-wrong location height. This failure with the Locked shocks is odd. Maybe Florida shocks just can't handle Wisconsin winters? I have bad luck? Can't tell you...

It's been awhile so I don't really remember how it came apart.

I think once you remove brake line, you remove the 4 nuts on the back side of the hub and it should slide right out.
    like so...

That's funny. Jon, Dean and I were talking about this last Fri at the show. I'm thinking I may take a ride up that way on Mon. When I get up there, I'll stop by the Lakewood Ranger Station, see what info is available.

My 2nd gen had the left seal go out. Looking back, I suspect the breather got stuck and the resulting pressure blew it out. May want to check yours while you're at it, they're cheap enough.
