Went to the Old Car Show in Appleton today. A lot of really nice, some very rare cars and trucks. Among them:

Only 33k on the clock! Really clean!

There were several nice old Broncos too:

I didn't take a pic, but there was an old, restored Bill Stroppe Baja racing Bronco too.

Fellas! I haven't been around here much this last week. My brother and his family were in town. We had a blast on a rented pontoon boat on Okauchee Lake last Wednesday, celebrated my brother's birthday with way too much bourbon on Thursday, had my daughter's HS graduation party yesterday. Finally sitting down this evening and starting to plan a road trip to Boston in late August when we'll drop off my daughter for her first semester at Wellesley College.

We made the grown-up decision to take my wife's VW Tiguan for this trip for a comfy and fuel efficient ride instead of the truck. We have the full week off. She needs to be at school Wednesday, August 27th. My plan so far has us heading from home to the Cleveland area where we'll stay a couple nights and see Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the Rock & Roll HoF. From there, we can either make the drive to the Boston area, or cut it shorter and hit someplace like Albany, NY.

Do you guys know of any interesting places that would be 2-4 hours west of the Boston area? Any better places to stop? Keep in mind, this is not the type of camping and adventurous trip I would prefer. I do like to find funky or historic kinds of hotels and stuff when I travel with the family, not the Holiday Inn Express kind of places. Thoughts or suggestions?

Interesting thought: How are Tiguans at water crossings?

I have nothing of use to offer.

 They handle puddles just fine. I wasn't planning to lift it and chop it for 35s and add a snorkel before we leave.

This time of year, the ground is usually rather dry. Not this year, seems we can't go 72 hours without rain. Meaning, the sump pump still runs a couple of times a day. Until today. While I was at the car show, the switch took a shit...kinda. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. It turns on, but not off. :spending:in my future.

For shits and giggles, I asked Gemini to show me a Tiguan set up for off roading on 35s. This actually looks pretty sweet. :D
