Stalled on freeway. Lost power intermittently and then would only idle. I had enough momentum to get to the ramp, and idled to the gas station. I was hoping it was a loose connector and maybe I could reach it, but nothing I could see was loose. Put in 2 gallons thinking by some miracle it would re-start, but nope.

Also, odometer passed 60K literally yesterday, so I had to cover the tow. $250. :angrygirl:

Ask about reimbursement if you're just a hair over 60,000 there's no reason they wouldn't cover you. That's just silly. Isn't there supposed to be some kind of gray area around those anyway?

If they just replaced your fuel pump, they better reimburse you for the tow

Spent the weekend 4 wheeling and camping in the Keweenaw Peninsula and part of northern Wisconsin. Camped right in Lake Superior. The view was worth the pinstripes I caught on the way in.
Definitely need to explore the UP some more.

Now you sound like the PRO guys on 4runners.com.

I'm going to. The guy from roadside service just has to go by the book.

That's what I'm thinking, too. It ran perfectly until 3 days after they replaced the fuel pump. I hope they find a simple mistake and I get it back running before Thursday. My whole family is going camping and I have the only vehicle that can get to the beach. :)

On a lighter note, I got to see @WiscoPat 's 80 series in person today. It is glorious! Very clean, well taken care of, and that turbo diesel grunt!! Thank you for the demo, Pat!

Agreed! It couldn't have been better. Even the bugs stayed home.

    Update:

Hats off to Don Jacobs Toyota!

I just got a call from the service manager I spoke with this morning. He said that a seal (most likely the o-ring that has caused others issues) had worked it's way out. 4Runner is back running.

And, before I could say anything, he says he needs to see my tow bill so he can reimburse me. I am so glad I don't have to fight him over it!

I realize that getting it right the first time would have been ideal. But, everybody fucks up. I know I do. Making things right is all you can do at that point. And, these guys have been great to work with in general.

Thats the reason I saved a corporate #

If anyone has issues at a dealership call corporate. Most dealerships can’t do certain things without you going over them!

    I recommend saving this #

Looks like an awesome time! I definitely need to get up to the UP as well. Keweenaw sounds perfect as I'd like to stop at that Brewery. So far I've tried a few of their beers and like them all very much.
