Weird. I guess they'll throw any old tire on there now.

My SR and SR5 came with Hankooks, the Sport came with..... Uh...... Something.

And ORs come/came with Goodyear Wranglers (absolute trash tire)

Relentless Fab hybrid bumper, 2.5” Dobinsons IMS lift, RCI skids and sliders, block heater. Painted FJ Steelies. Was trying to keep it stock, now slowly building for the Wisconsin trails.
Toyota provides either Toyo Open Country A30 or the Firestone Destination LE 2 on the TRD sports.
Mine came with the Toyo's which weren't horrible in the snow but weren't great in my experience. I think the saving grace was that they were so soft. That said 30k and they were done.
I suspect the Firestones are made for to last a bit longer. Like James said these are highway tires designed for low rolling resistance.

I would bet they are not LT tires. There's no reason for Toyota to put LT's on a Tacoma. And, they would bw worse on fuel economy.

Edit: or is the LT/AT a part of the tire's name?

I was thinking load range.

I don't see anything really consistent with their choice of OEM tires. I wonder if they just test a bunch and go with whatever gives the best fuel economy. :notsure:

    Seriously?? What load range?

Or is it in the name of the tires? I think I misunderstood the post from Tim.

Light truck tires. Stiff sidewalls, minimal tread ejaculation of debris (yeah....), stiff compound, Low rolling resistance.

As opposed to Desrination ATs, which are All Terrain and are a decent bang for the buck. Local Firestone says the Destination AT hasn't been made in years, you'll have to get the AT2 or others, Firestone corporate says they still make them. So who knows

I know about SL and LT tires.

I'm asking if the tire is called "destination LT" or if they're actually LT tires. I can't imagine Toyota would ever put LT tires on a Tacoma. It just doesn't make any sense.

Any amount of low rolling resistance would be cancelled out by the extra weight.

Edit: according to Discount Tire, they came with the Destination LE. It's an SL tire, which makes sense.

Enjoy! I just went bowling for the first time in over 10 years, and I still suck. :)

Don't worry about looking. I was curious so I looked it up.

Yeah, it seems like most of the tires Toyota provides are more suited to highway use in the south. None that I'm aware of are worth a damn in snow.

Edit: with the possible exception of the Nittos they put on the 4Runner PRO.

    Little lunch time fun...
Finally got to test the shock relocation. I wanted to make sure all the lines were long enough, tire didn't rub the shocks in the rear, and the shock shafts weren't bottomed out.

    All was good.

No sway bar in the rear of the Tacoma. Just in the front, and I could probably get more articulation if it was gone. You can see in the picture the front isn't stuffed all the way but was starting to lift on the opposite side. But being my daily driver I'd rather keep it in place.

It's not needed, unless you drive like a pissed off teenager. Since you've got tires and suspension lift,.I'm gona guess you don't :D
