Oh there will be some mods all right
Are the rear lockers known to be finicky on 3rd gens or do I just need to engage and disengage it routinely to make it work quicker/more reliably? Yesterday I tried to engage it and kept flashing so I came home and researched to make sure I was engaging it correctly, and I was. Today I finally got it but it took a while to engage and even longer to disengage.

It's a little finicky on 2nd gens also. Usually engages pretty quick when moving. Sometimes takes it a minute to engage/disengage

When trying to engage if the lite blinks turn the wheel to one side and let the truck roll forward or rev alittle to line up the gears, you can even put it in gear then move the truck alittle.

To disengage make sure you have moved in a straight line for some feet.

Don't use on any hard packed surfaces.

    Need to be in 4lo

once you hit the button the teeth need to align for it to lock so you either need to 1) get lucky 2) have wheel slip or 3) drive slowly and turn

Yes, the locker is a bit finicky. I find sometimes it won't lock until you weave back and forth a little.

    Front, rear, or both?

We'll have to have a flex-off on one of the upcoming outings.

Weird. I didn't know the Tacomas only had a front sway bar. I wonder why.

I guess I learned something today already.

So gentle here... wouldn't see that level of Midwest courtesy on the Colorado page...

Tundras don’t have a rear either, but they do have a TRD front and rear you can add. Not sure why they don’t do that on the Tacoma.

i added them to mine.. the problem I have now is the truck corners too well for seats with not much for bolsters to hold you in place lol

Sounds like the Colorado folks are dicks.

I would think it would just be common courtesy to not insult someone for not knowing everything about the suspension on a vehicle they don't own.

I don't get mad when Tacoma people don't know what KDSS is. I do, however, get irritated with the 4Runner people who confuse it with X-REAS, or just don't know what it is at all, and then go online and bash it.

I didn't even consider it when I asked. I know I have seen a rear sway bar on a pickup before.

    I learned something today too.
I got in my wonderful 2015 6 cylinder this morning after spending a week driving a 4 cyl 3rd gen. That tiny motor sure is a workhorse! The problem being that it NEEDS to be a workhorse to move that truck. It felt like is was working hard even just driving down a level highway at 70 mph. When going up the mountain roads, it was really working its ass off! I got in mine today and barely touched the gas and felt the instant and smooth power :)

They don't need them. They're trucks, not sports cars lol. That being said, if you're loading heavy and road towing (like with a Tundra) sway bars are excellent.

    Ope

Rams and Silverados have them. Rangers and Frontiers do too.

I bet with the 4th gen Taco getting IRS it'll have one as well
