So what do all you guys think? I'm kind of torn on whether I should gamble and get those 6112s or not. I mean it just kind of sounds like the shop that he was paying didn't know much and I should be fine right?

Bilstein's own website shows the FJ part number is 46-227287 (the one in the Craigslist ad) and for your 2020 Tacoma it should be 47-234413. Surprisingly, Bilstein's site doesn't list the shock compressed/overall lengths. Maybe they are the same, maybe not. No way to know without calling Bilstein.

If it were me I wouldn't do it until you verify. Buying used shocks from a guy who clearly has no idea what to do with suspension stuff is a recipe for a bad time. Also no telling if those shocks are damaged from the guy doing it all wrong. Too many questions for my tastes.

What do they say when a deal seems too good to be true?

It would be an insult not to insult him with a lowball offer.

"Okay, well I'm going to purposely lowball you because there's definitely some uncertainty surrounding them. You can consider it like an an insurance plan lol. If you can't find anybody to buy them for what you're asking for I'll take them off your hands for $200. I genuinely do wish you good luck with your sale though "

That route is also exceptionally expensive hence why I am looking at craigslist suspension :p

Lol. I really am trying to break that as it most definitely is hard on the wallet. It's also why I'm resisting so hard buying a suspension because if I do give in to my addiction at least this time I won't have spent a bunch on modifications as well.

Or maybe you'll be less apt to trade because you have a bunch of modifications.

Here’s what you should do: keep the Tacoma, do some of the basic mods to make it fun, and to feed your new car cravings go rent a different car once every couple months.

Or maybe if you spend a bunch on mods, it’ll hurt too much to get rid of and you’ll keep it ;)
