    Trans Wisconsin adventure trail question!!

Is dispersed camping available on the T.W.A.T. Or do I need to leave the route to hit a campground

    In some spots.

You can dispersed camp in any of the National forests and I believe the state forests as well. There’s quite a few camp grounds along the way too. I lost count of how many we passed today

not sure what part you are running but just an FYI the bridge circled in orange is currently closed. It's about a 35 mile up (or down) and back to the next closest bridge. It's approximately 100 miles from the south starting point.

I have looked at hiking parts of the ice age trail and I found that you can camp anywhere that is public land on that trail. Could be the same for the T.w.a.t. as well, Wisconsin has lax laws on camping like that.

Edit: which would expand your camping area to include county land in addition to state and fed parks.

Hey, I use the Backcountry Navigator Pro app for GPS on my phone, do any of you guys have or know of a source to get GPX or KML files of the T.W.A.T. so I can import the trails and waypoints. I see that transwisconsintrail.com has some gps maps but I'm struggling to get the trail on them.

It's a good app and I can pre download and use it offline, I have used it on every backpacking trip I have been on. It just doesn't have the trail on the free terrain map I am using.

I used Gaia yesterday and the free map had all of the trail we did. If you have the subscription there are tons more maps you can download (forest service, national parks, motor vehicle use maps, etc)

There's limited public land south of Millston so I would suspect there would be no dispersed camping. You do drive right past some campgrounds around Hatfield though, there's a really nice one on East Fork of the Black River. The map I have shows campgrounds along the route.

I saw a bunch of campgrounds on the route but I’ll be heading there Memorial Day weekend and I’m sure most campgrounds are already booked. Not sure how far I’ll make it on the trail. May just head up and down the Mississippi and bank fish all night!

When we were crossing the river, all I could think about was how many huge catfish must be in there. I'm definitely camping/fishing there sometime this summer!

A couple inchs of snow forcasted for this weekend.
Been chatting with @Thatbassguy about hitting a section of the TWAT Saturday afternoon north of Desoto.
Nothing is set in stone at this point
@Thatbassguy will follow up as we get this weekend's plans ironed out

Fly, humidity is not bad. Had worse in WI.
Get this, I've been waiting on my Demello bumper since end of February, delays, I understand. Get an email saying it was shipped today. I might miss the big day.
