    I just put the included hook on for now. What is the difference between using the flat link vs just putting a shackle directly on the winch line? I'd have a hard time spending $140 on that, unless I'm missing something?

    The big thing is the rope isn't exposed to the elements and UV. it also looks pretty and doesn't rattle around.

    and it's a fully closed loop system, which is safer.

    most people recommend using soft shackles these days. The less things to become a projectile, the better.

    also there's usually a nylon sleeve that comes with the winch line that you put on the end of it to help protect it.

    This makes sense! I will look into it and probably order one or the other. I don't think I would actually use a hook for a recovery situation anyway.

    I don't think mine came with one:(

    Bilstein 6112's and medium load springs in front, 5100's and heavy load Bilstein 1.5" lift springs in back. BDS Upper control arms.
