Also; I saw a guy in a white 2nd gen, ACLB this evening on the freeway with his tailgate open. He seemed to think I was trying to fuck with him honking and waving my arms. Hopefully he didn't lose anything irreplaceable.

What dealership? did you happen to ask them what type of coating they use? I got my card, but don't want to take it in if they're going to cover it in some crap...

They should have used the Toyota frame slime which is actually pretty good stuff if it goes on to a clean frame. But it's nothing like fluid film or wool wax

No I didn’t ask them since it was for the (2017 sport) truck I just traded in on for my new (2021 sport) truck
I tried to have them put whatever coating on to my brand new frame before it rusts. That would only make sense but not to Toyota. They want you to wait 3-5 years in Wisconsin winters and then they will apply the rustproofing over your rust…..

    Brilliant!

I’m doing fluid film at another members house on oct 9!

Just found this Wisconsin thread and saw that...that's awesome. If I didn't' have to work I'd be curious just to see how much of a mess you're going to make!

That's because in 2018 they changed the factory coatings they put on the frames. Much more durable in the previous coatings.

Very little coating on my brand new 2021 Wisconsin truck
    5A7BA776-F0E3-4644-BDA8-3BE35B97E363.jpg
Straight from the factory in Mexico.

Absolutely zero rust protection in it.
Nothing on the frame nothing on the underside. Nothing on a single bolt!
    Lol

    Ok! Ok !
There’s little black smudges of something but they missed all the seams.

    I’ll fix that next Saturday!

Do you see how your frame is black and not bare steel? That's the coatings. Not saying they're super great but supposedly they're better than the old coatings. Also if you look up under your frame rails about where your A pillars are and forward, look inside the box part of the frame, you should see some kind of congealed slime.

Yep but 2 foot sections of nothing. Nothing on the seams.
    I’ll fix that next week!
