Mine don't flex when I use the high lift on them... Might want to double check all your mounting points lol

The 2.7 is a dynamite engine. You won't be able to tow a forklift or a backhoe with it and you won't win any drag races, but with it in ECT and S mode it's a hell of a fun ride.

I went with the lighter duty option, thinking I wasn't really going to use them. Plus, my 4Runner is heavier than your Taco.

Aside from that, I was jacking it by the very rear end of the slider while the vehicle was pointed uphill.

Idk, so far it doesn’t seem to have a ton of power. It’s cool to be able to rent this for our Alaskan vacation!

Yes... but it will need to be a big hit. These are way over built (I cannot seem to make things that are reasonable weight.) 3/16 thick 1 3/4" DOM tubing (most are 1/8). The inner section is also 3/16 2" square all welded to 3/16 plate bolted to the frame with big 5/8" grade 8 bolts. There is some flex when I jack, but very little. Looks like I might get to try them out in a week or two on the Pipeline, and then we will know!

    Well, yeah. Probably.

It's a few hundred# heavier right off the bat. Plus full armor, winch, etc. I'm probably over your Tacoma's GVWR a lot of times.

Yup, you are 325 heavier off the bat. Hmmm

Of course I'm also running larger tires, bigger suspension, front skid, mid-skid, TK skid, fuel tank skid, a arm skids, diff skid. Sliders. Rear bumper. Front bumper. Winch. Lights. Bed stiffeners, other cargo racks accessories at the bed etc.

I don't remember if this started from the springs discussion or the sliders discussion, but I am with CygnusX191 in my concerns about wheeling weight. My truck in stock suspension bangs like crazy even with AAl's. Bump stops help, but adding skids, sliders, winch, RTT, etc etc adds up to a lot of weight to lug around. Probably too much weight. I am looking at some Alcan springs to make it make sense and I am going to go a bit over what they initially recommended because I know there is always going to be more to add... Like 35's and cool stuff. And... then what breaks next? Gotta get Dana 60's and an LS swap and, and, and f'in and. I don't see an end to this financial hemorrhage.

Larger tires than stock? Same. Sounds like we have about the same as many bro points.

Those bumpers aren't light. I actually considered a rear bumper, but the one I was looking at was like 300-some crazy lbs!

Edit: might have been 200-some lbs, but still..

So, with the bumpers, you might be right. But, it's probably close.

I actually just took off my roof basket since I don't always need it. Ok, I rarely need it. I did a little test last week running the same route in similar conditions with and without the basket. Saved enough fuel for me to leave it off until I'll actually use it. Modern problems...

Lol we all want more equipment, but then that means more upgrades, which all cost, and this hobby was expensive before the current fun with gas prices..... Oof lol.

Thankfully with my long bed I don't forsee the need for a roof rack of any sort, so between not having one and my bed cover, my aero isn't terrible.

The MT also helps, in my book :D

    Time to start ultralight overlanding

i went to a full size then all the influencers did. Now I’m starting the ultralight minimalist trend.

when I had the roof basket on mine it got 16.5mpg.
    5BCC0F49-907B-478C-89D4-C6A1B24E8011.jpg

    Without it I get 18.9mpg.

That’s enough fuel for a 1 way trip to/from work.

    $2 per gallon didn’t care!

Running late for work and buying gas in Illinois is another thing!

There's definitely a snowball effect when you start adding things.

It's nice if you can get by without a roof rack. I might look for a way to mount my traction boards inside the 4Runner.

There's times when I appreciate having an automatic. But, there's other times when I really miss driving a stick.
