    So. Many. Stickers.
Between Wits End and this guy in Yemen who ships globally, parts of these are not hard to find.
I will personally vouch for the guy who runs Wit's End, he is rock solid and has been through absolute hell and yet is still a great dude

    It does

    Thanks for the information!

There's a small part of me thinking about selling the 4Runner and buying something older with cash. No car payment would make it easier to live with these gas prices.

I wanted to buy an 80 series in '05, and then I fell into another 4Runner. It was a great vehicle, and probably much more practical at the time. But, now I have a second vehicle, so it's easier to justify something a little more trail focused.

I'm thinking about it now because It's tempting to take advantage of the current used car market before it crashes.

Turtles are out-be careful out there. Coming back from the Pipeline fun I had to stop and motivate an angry snapper out of the middle of the road... stubborn critters they are. Up into the Penokees for some fishing last night and they were everywhere. Cross the road to lay some eggs I suppose. Slayed the Crappies/Blue gills=dinner tonight...

I've been seeing a lot of snapping turtles as well. It's nice to see people going around them, instead of hitting them. I have moved a few across the street, also, always in the direction they're heading.

Had a fun experience in the U.P. yesterday. Was rock hunting and I looked up and I had a friend. When he looked away I army crawled along a ledge got within 15 feet of him.

I then scared him away by imitating the sound they make clearing their nose. He then came back while I was up on the rocks looking at the sunset.

Also sunset, super high res pic of a ship, some eggs of some sort? And some vibrant algae.

So, a little review on the Tacoma so far. Definitely a quirky truck, can't believe Toyota hasn't massaged out the quirks by now. No deal breakers but kinda lame nonetheless. It seems to shudder taking off, slowing down, or pretty much just existing. Perhaps trans issue? I'm super obsessive with my vehicles feel and sounds so maybe it's normal? Also, while driving somewhat spiritedly going from gas to brake coming into a corner the lights will dim for a second. Not all bad though. The gas mileage has continued to be satisfactory, and the difference between how the power felt on a brand new Tacoma vs this one is outstanding. Like my truck is as fast if not faster than my tundra while the brand new ones I drove were slugs.

Grease your driveshaft zerks, that usually seems to solve the shudder at low speeds.

Didn't the later 3rd gens get rid of them?

Uhh, that's a good question. I'm only familiar with mine.

Looks like they removed the ones on the rear. I now have no idea what could be causing the shudder lol

Yeah, makes me a little nervous. Seems to do it a various speeds and definitely while slowing down. Doesn't feel like how warped rotors feel but pretty similar.

    Why?

I guess no one was ever actually lubing them but still seems strange

When going from accel to decel, the rpm’s will drop and there will be a momentary voltage drop (you can see it if you have a cig voltage meter). The alternator output is ecu controlled and it is flipping between outputs. I haven’t figured out any way to fix that (including tuning)
some third gen trucks do that. Some have been fixed by doing a drain and fill of the trans. Others have been fixed by tuning. Others have just lived with it. Toyota will say it’s normal and not do anything.

No idea. I figured it out when I climbed under to grease them and they weren’t there. I think they are some poly composite no maintenance thing. They also used them on the older gen 4 cyl trucks I believe.

it’s been a while so I might not be 100%

Probably a stupid question I'm sure, but is there an easy way to tell if your truck is tuned? Or would it need to be hooked up to a laptop?

There’s no way to tell really unless the calibration ID is changed (usually only is if you are on a super charger tune). If you’ve got the software, if you try to do a read it’ll fail if it’s tuned. That’s really the only way to know
