So, I was under the impression that all 2020 Tacomas were capable of remote starting via the app on your phone. Was I wrong? I was deciding between an aftermarket remote start and just going with the Toyota remote connect. Well I decided to set up the remote connect today and I don't see an option for it. All I see is this.

I've never paid for or used the app on my phone with my 2020. I just went to look at the app I had installed when the truck was new and was prompted to install a new app. The old one looked like a mess. This looks better but I'm not in my truck right now to connect it. I can take another look later.

I recommend @N2DesignsInc (They are a vendor on TW) for a Plug-N-Play remote start, they also offer the Cell module for use with a phone app.

Does the cell module part work well? And do you happen to know which cell towers it uses? Being able to use my phone is a huge deal when it comes to remote start.

Awesome. I will definitely have to keep that remote start combo in mind. I know I used drone mobile with my Tundra and it worked pretty good but that wasn't plug and play so N2 will probably be the best bet.

Back in my day I walked uphill to my Tacoma both ways in the snow and manually started my archaic truck that has no heated seats/steering/mirrors. You kids with your fancy 'apps' and jazz music...grumble grumble lol...

The cell module they provide is from Car Link https://www.carlinkusa.com/ which I do have. I've had it installed for 2 years without issue. As long as it has cell coverage it should be connected.
Saved me during a camping trip when the wife accidentally locked the doors and the key was in the console. Was able to unlock using my phone.

Any questions ask in the N2 Designs Vendor forum, they are usally very responsive.

I wonder when the next sale for N2 Designs will be, looks like they had a summer sale last year.

I put remote start on my 2017 . My 2021 doesn’t. I miss it after last winter. Choices you make when you have a manual. I got one for the ‘21 4Runner on Amazon. My wife loves it. Not crazy range but it’ll start from inside the house!

I will never have a daily driver ever again that doesn't have remote start.

I'm rocking the remote start for the manual from N2 designs. Unlike the automatic it is 98% Plug-N-Play, have to splice 2 wires. Get one and keep your bits warm @BookieBob
