Plus I put it in 4h, come to a stop, let off the brake and it doesn’t move. Front tires straight. Like i said I engaged it in July with zero precipitation... never wheel locked . Aug, sept , oct and now end of November. Sorry it’s the Only way to describe it.

I’m just gonna give it hell in 4h tomorrow. I’m either gonna kill it and get towed or I’ll feel better. Either way it’ll be a win!
My neighbor jacked up the rear , put it in neutral and it’s definitely like posi. I hold the power wheel and the other won’t turn and vice versa.

NEVER engage 4WD on dry pavement! Blown transfer cases are not cheap!

My 2006 Sport has LSD. Acts like a regular diff at low speeds. Locks at higher speeds or during wheel slip. If yours is locked at all speeds it’s broke. Time to see the dealership. Under warranty? Right?

Nope . Warranty expired.. it’s not even 2 yrs old with 44,200
Just nothing but problems with mine since day one on my truck. Had the humming in the rear. Fought Toyota dealer. Went to corporate, 20-emails a day and dozens of calls to some guy at Toyota corporate on his cell I somehow got. Told him I call you day and night. I got nothing but time and got approval. They swapped the differential 3 times. Still humming!

This might be like closing the barn door after the cows got out, but you should not be in 4 wheel drive on dry pavement. Too much traction will tear up your differential. It'll be fine while going straight (wheels going the same speed) but during turning it will bind because wheels are going different speeds, that's the jerky feeling you get while turning a tight corner.

    Good luck.

Even going straight is not the greatest unless your hitting slippery spots to release tension. Our front and rear diffs are not exactly the same. When doing chalk test on new tires I marked top of tires, drove straight for 1/4 mile. Marks were not in line with each other.
Back in the day it was always suggested to go in reverse after getting out of 4wd to relieve tension.
Back in 2002 I got a new ZR2 Blazer. 2 days later I was back at dealer, backend was jumping going around corners. The diff.got twisted and locked up.

That is “Lemon Law” territory. Three tries to fix a potential safety problem. A diff going out and locking at 70 MPH will cause problems!
Take a look at the carrier bearing.

Sounds like something has bound up the spider gears and is not letting the rear tires spin independently

I just drove it in the snow last night @ work. Had it in 4 h just started power sliding through the turns. Seemed to be better. I guess it is a Toyota, if it’s broke beat on it!

7B7936B2-09AD-427E-A146-F5FB0AD3A302.jpg I’m heading up to King, Wisconsin on Saturday December 15 in the early Am for the annual wreath laying at the Wisconsin veterans cemetery. 61102931-C7A2-4698-8C38-B12DD2AC3115.jpg Both my Grandparents are laid to rest there. Both served in WWI. Wreaths across America will be bringing wreaths to be placed on veterans graves. If anyone would like to volunteer a few hours to help out placing them click on the link

I’ll be headed up here early Am so if anyone wants to tag along or needs a ride let me know. They can always use more volunteers! Guaranteed to stop for breakfast and maybe hit a tavern or brewery on the way back.
    Anyone interested let me know!

Curious if anyone is interested in purchasing my MGM bumper. 2012-2015 years. Good condition, comes with fogs, wiring and crash bar. Below is one of the last pics of it installed on the truck. Lower valence was cut to mount a 30" light bar. Bumper was wheeled but any minimal scratches would be under the bumper and not noticeable while mounted. Asking $350 FIRM.
