Not looking for tire clearance. I will get that from beating the pinch weld flat and a cmc. Also have Total Chaos UCA's which will give clearance. I want to level the truck... I know there are risks. Accept the risks. Willing to take the risks. You can say I told you so later when I am complaining about the fallout of the risks.

Back in service range again. @Thatbassguy hope your family is OK down there. Here’s some more trip photos (though the color may be off, I realized I’m shooting in a flat profile to process later). Road 510 Falls:

    4916DD52-8A1C-4403-910D-B54D6CEEB4DA.jpg

Yellow Bridge Falls/Rapids - can only show part, some was with drone and I’m not sure I copied over to my phone:

    0135D20B-C791-4866-B294-508D79FE0961.jpg

Wasn’t feeling the color changes yet (still a week early in my opinion) so drove to the U.P. Started with Rapid River Falls and ran out of daylight for more on Weds.

Camp was waaaaaay deep in the woods. Had my first campfire, was lots of wood left around from logging. Pretty sure I was the only one here. Wolves calling VERY close.

You do know those are coyotes rite?

Most times they will stay away from anything with human scent.

Wolves. I know the difference, they sound very different. There are plenty of wolves in the U.P. I’m no stranger to the woods.

Thursday: Woke up and didn’t have to drive anywhere - Haymeadow Falls is accessible right from camp.

    4C9AEB27-6AC9-401B-B0E8-D73DD948496D.jpg

Whitefish Falls was next - didn’t know what to expect but it wasn’t this. Pretty awesome spot and easy to access.

    FC9E0297-3D99-420E-AE24-358B925DD4DC.jpg

Au Train Falls was next. This one has multiple sections. Also there are lots of tiny “falls” spraying from the cliff sides. It’s a pretty unique place.

Side hill cascade that drops like 100 feet:

Wagner Falls - super busy/touristy but nice. Sadly no photo on my phone but you should definitely see it if you visit Munising. Camp at Pete’s Lake - got lucky it was the last day of the year to be open. In honor of that luck I chose site #13, scavenged all the discarded firewood from other empty sites, and had my first s’mores of the trip. Decided those are messy and stuck with alcohol instead.

Friday (today I think?). Horseshoe Falls - private and touristy, paid my $10 for nostalgia sake, it’s been a decade since the last visit. Gift shop is bigger, they seem to be doing well.

    EB8B58BA-0253-4129-A42F-B8678BF6F4CA.jpg

Munising Falls is now part of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and is a fee area. Kinda sucks but nice because it funds the upkeep. Place is super popular and being Friday it’s crawling with people. Me no likey but falls are nice.

    AA19616C-CF89-4487-AD57-431088FE85DF.jpg

Miners Falls - also very busy, I don’t like the crowds. Falls are amazing though.

    9220E805-423D-4E4C-8425-47151887A46D.jpg

Miners Castle just down the road. Apparently in the past decade the top part has broken/eroded away. I have old photos somewhere before this. Crazy.

    DEEF4DEC-2394-43D3-8CBD-3B5D288CCDF1.jpg

Had enough of the tourists in Munising so decided to punish myself with twice as many tourists and a long drive to Tahquamenon State Park way out east. It was worth it. Upper falls first:

    33BDD519-40E9-42B8-A9EA-6E320B50BFF2.jpg

Lower falls I can’t even put into one image. It’s so many things going on all over the place - giant falls split around an island you can hike with rapids everywhere. This spot alone was worth it. Hiked until I couldn’t see anything but the moon.

    2C83CB72-5B11-4CF7-A730-E49363873DDF.jpg

Stole a shower at the park campground (second one of the trip!). Eating a luxurious meal fit for a 7 year old now at McDonalds at Newberry, MI in the middle of nowhere. Time to wrap this up and go find camp - no idea yet where that is. And back offline I disappear. Heading back west tomorrow through Munising towards Marquette. Temps are going to plummet next week and I’ll be back in Wisconsin or Minnesota.

Awesome pictures! Looks like a great trip!

My Mom and her BF are still in Wisconsin. They usually go down from November to April or May.

It looks like this is going to be a tough winter for them. The picture is so blurry, it's tough to tell what's really going on. But, it looks like they lost about 1/3 of the roof. And, god knows what kind of water damage.

Jason, I have been thinking about this. My original thoughts were to stay away from the external res shocks for two reasons: 1. they have something hanging off of them that can get torn off... and 2. I never adjust those kinds of things. This combination falls into the category of "I can afford it." not sure I need it. I don't usually unload the truck except in the winter when I put it in the garage and leave it for a few months. I am not desert racing, and I generally don't highball the types of roads I like to drive. Purely ego to have the "nice" ones at this juncture I think, so maybe I will go look again.

The boat looks fine, that’s the important part!

The fact that it’s still tied up and centered in the slip is encouraging.

Sat 10/01: Not a very fruitful day but saw lots of things. Started out with the short hike (and some ~180 stairs) to Sable Falls.

Breakfast at picnic area at Grand Sable Lake Overlook.

Log Slide Overlook because it’s along the route as I drive back towards Munising. Some great twisty roads up here and fall colors are starting to show but still a week early.

    2A8798AE-C009-40E0-9707-8B709EFD4F9B.jpg

Drove to Chapel/Mosquito trailhead but it’s a cluster today with weekend tourists. I had enough and decided to leave town. Had a pasty at Muldoons on the way out. No ragerts.

    FBCAE6FD-DA5D-49D8-859B-37B7C0FAD401.jpg

Biggest “fail” of the day was wasting a ton of time trying to reach Rock River Falls trailhead. Super bumpy and potholed forest roads took forever. Had some cranky C you next Tuesday block the road and not pull off the single track so we could squeeze by each other. Reached the trailhead only to find the maps are wrong and hike would be twice the distance. Some rain clouds looming and daylight is almost out so I passed. Took equally as long getting out. Member how I had an aversion to “scratchy” trails? LOL so much for that now. Blah.

Heading west still closer to Marquette. No idea where I’ll end up but posting now before I lose signal again. Tomorrow should have less tomfoolery.

Edit: I have cell signal at camp. Forgot that I also stopped at Scott Falls right off the highway.

Love the Northwoods. I remember family road trips up to Arbor Vitae as a kid seeing the original beer bear.
