On another note, try to get all four done at the same time if you can. I'd hate for you to have a bad experience the first time only to know you've got to go back for a second round.

Well my top 2 are already grown in and their fine...straight and everything. Its the bottom ones (particularly the right side) thats giving me issues! It hurts man! :(

I try to ignore it but it isn't working...I have a pretty good tolerance for pain too :(

even before I had my wisdome teeth pulled out i had all 4 premolars taken out while i was awake with a little numbing. which really sucked cuz you can feel and hear the cracking of your teeth and they also put liquid in your mouth that your not suppose to swallow but gargle while they keep your mouth open WTH huh.

Got my wisdom teeth taken but they were hurting because of the pressure it was putting on my jaw and my other teeth as well but got them out a few weeks after and was put to sleep but also sucked because it was the day before thanksgiving and all I could eat was lousy soup = (

to be honest scott i'd rather get put to sleep instead of going through a long slow procedure. The procedure feels like you have just taken a nap and you just feel really tired and sleepy and just really drugged up. As far as the affects after I wasn't really much in pain and I didnt really swell either( my friends looked like chipmunks ). But its different with everyone so thats my reasoning for not being put under anesthetics and rather being put to sleep. GOOD LUCK!

Right on, thanks for the input dude! Man I bet that sucked on Thanksgiving :(
Since my wisdom teeth are exposed I think it'll expedite the process (I hope)

My top two were growing in at an angle and my bottom ones were fully exposed. Never had any pain, but the doc insisted they be removed to keep them from potentially jackin up my other teeth. I was given the shots and nitrous and was awake for the entire procedure. I watched everything and felt the pressure as he used his vice grips and twisted my wisdoms out. Never felt any pain though until after the anesthesia wore out later that day, but you do get some pain meds with it.

Definitely get the nitrous! Shit I'd do it again just for the nitrous. :D

True, one of mine cracked while he was trying to pull the whole thing out and he ended up removing it in pieces as well.

Got all four of mine out 3 weeks ago. I had no pain, didn't need pain killers and was eating burgers and fries that night. I don't know why some people have it so bad.

Keep them cleaned with a little syringe they will give you. Put warm salt water in it and spray it down in the holes to keep food and debris out. Also, if you smoke.....DON'T! At least for 3 or 4 days.

The upper teeth rarely get dry socket, the lowers are much more prone to it. BTW, did I say keep them clean and don't smoke? :)

I had mine done when I was 23 and my only regret is I didn't get it done 3 years earlier when my dentist first told me it needed to be done. All 4 of mine were impacted and in full bone so I elected to have it done with IV sedation. I had minimal swelling and pain for about 4 days but it didn't stop me from going to school, work or anything else I had to do.

    Good luck!

Got mine done when I was 20! Man was I glad I did it at that age. My advice...get them all done at once...no need in dragging out the pain and do what your told by the doc. In 3-7 days you'll be almost over all of the pain. 3-7 weeks you'll be over all of it. AND TAKE ANY DRUGS THEY OFFER....There is no sense to suffer! (imho)

    Just a little update...

I made an appointment with the dentist for tomorrow at 10:30 am just to get a routine cleaning and a check up. Hopefully they can do the extraction there sometime soon, if not than i'm sure they'll refer me someplace. For now the pain has stopped but who knows for how long!

Stay tuned as the drama unfolds
