I had a '95 Nissan with 181,000+ miles and sold it in perfect working order. Had to change an alternator and a distributor in 13 years, so 7 years and 108,000 miles ain't shit.

There should NOT be issues with the truck and his frustration is valid.

I understand the loyalty of people who have had good experiences with these trucks. I do not understand blind loyalty. My initial experience was bad. The second day I had the brand new truck the check engine and trac off lights came on and the ECM had to be replaced.

That bullshit doesn't give me a warm fuzzy about Toyota, frankly. This is my only experience with Toyota vehicles, aside from my wife's 2012 Lexus.

I think the most important variable here is if/when/how often the vehicle is serviced. You can have the most reliable car in the world, but without proper upkeep, it's not gonna last

^^My nephew and my brother in law have dodges. They will out haul, out tow and out work every tacoma on this forum.

They both bought their trucks used, and they have not had an issue with them.

Take note people... this is called being unbiased.

Am I going to buy a dodge? Fuck no. I wanted a Toyota. I bought one.

But be honest with yourselves... your truck is a 6, maybe a 6.5 and she has small tits and a flat ass.

I am not a dodge apologist, by any means. But facts are facts. I OWN a Tacoma. I like it.

I'm not, and will never be, blindly loyal to it.

Why did you leave Dodge if your claiming to be "loyal"? Toyotas are reliable but ARE NOT MAINTENANCE FREE

That makes me understand your loyalty to Toyota. Not mad at you, you have history.

Maybe you had bad trucks? My truck was bad off the line.... is that an indictment on Toyota? I don't think so. My truck is brand new.

Did you buy yours new, or used?

Again, I'm not advocating one truck over another. I'm just saying that because I own a Toyota, it doesn't mean that it's God's gift to the truck world.

(newsflash... it is not... no Diesel offering)

Both my Dodge's were brand new. They were back at the dealership so much that I was on a first name basis with everybody there.

    Diesels are massively overrated.

    Not if you're towing something.

Now I have perspective, sir. You've had two bad experiences from the beginning with dodge. Does that mean every dodge is a lemon?

My first experience with Toyota was bad. Should I sell my truck and swear it off?

You see my point? We're all a product of our environment and our personal experiences. I'm not telling you to buy a dodge again. I'm just saying just because you've had good luck with your tacoma doesn't mean some folks won't have the same experience you had with dodge.

Toyota may be reliable, but it is far from infallible.

So I saw this thread in the morning when it only had a couple comments and I thought, "well, I know where this is going."

Forget dodge and they're money pit vehicles
