Should be. I’ve failed trucks with smaller holes and had the frames
    Covered

It’s their achilles heal. But canyons and Colorado’s of the same vintage also suffer from the same issue.

Update: Service rep called. They forgot to get a pic of the signed paperwork next to the hole to prove it's my truck so I'll be taking it in the morning. He said it looks like it will get approved and that he will fill up my tank for my trouble.

My paperwork from dealer says “qualifying perforation found” so now needs approved by Toyota.

How do you find out when the first checkup was ? I recently purchased a 2010 but see no info on a frame replacement anywhere

Claim denied. Dealer said Toyota said “outside influence” so apparently you’re suppose to be able to put your hand through your frame.

Did they say exactly what they meant by that? Are they accusing you of tampering with the frame or?

That’s what the dealer implied. Spoke with a lady at Toyota and she has me on hold. I tapped around with ball peen on other areas that night (Friday) because I was going to start cleaning up and trying a rust converter on Saturday. After that, took wheel off to replace axel seal and noticed bad spot on the frame. So then I pushed in the middle of it and it popped. She just took me off hold and confirmed that me pushing in on it counted as an “outside influence” and would need to escalate the case.

Well that's bs. That's probably what they will say to me too. If just pushing on it causes it to cave in, then it is obviously defective. I would definitely escalate it. What region are you located in?

I’m just outside Akron Ohio. So yeah, crappy roads.

In headed to the dealer next week to get my frame checked to. The rust cancer has multiple holes down my frame.

My question would be what recourse a person has if they deny frame replacement with an obvious hole in the frame.

First lady I spoke to escalated to another lady and she said she would have someone else call tomorrow that could hopefully explain. Their system has no info on my recent trip to dealership. So whoever calls tomorrow gets to explain why it’s ok for a frame to crumble. :) Seriously sucks when I had heard about the “old frame issues” and dealership (yeah, I know car salesman) assures you that it’s been handled and offers to take more of my money to have the truck rustproofing. Yup, I’m a dummy. I’ll quit bitching on here for now and follow up when I hear back. But seriously, go FF your trucks or something.

Dealer called today...I am approved and all parts are ordered. I'm making list of things to replace while they are in there.

Followed up with Toyota since I hadn’t heard back. Tier 2 lady said the denial would have had to come from regional manager and she can’t override herself but would follow up for more inform. Also let her know I found this on Saturday and she’d let him know about it. Afraid to look at this one cross eyed.

At least some of you guys are having success.

Go to another dealer. My 08 failed with much less rust. And a hole that was smaller. Wasnt a hole until I tapped on it either.
