With clear coat peeling, do you still wash it?

So my 2007 red tacoma is bubbling and peeling the clear coat as I have found out is a common problem with trucks in this year. Question now being, do I still wash it, as it looks like the bubbles would peel off if I even washed it off with the garden hose.

Thanks for any suggestions. Love this truck as it only has 125,000 miles on it with no problems, so this clear coat peeling is really frustrating.

First the clear coat, then the paint then rust. If the paint is still good why not have it clear coated again.
    Sooner than later.

Doesn't matter. It's gonna peel regardless.

If you want to keep whatever is there 'clean' in terms of dirt/pollen/bird droppings, etc., wash away.

Feel free to use a 'touch' car wash too, if you wish. You're not going to hurt anything now.

Eventually you'll have to decide if you want a proper repaint, a budget repaint or a bedliner/Monstaliner finish.

In the meantime, keep in mind that 'flat' is the current hot look in hot rods and show cars. 'Cause w/no clear, you be flat. :D

I would still wash it and even use a sealer (synthetic wax) just don’t polish it.

I would handwash only no autowashes of any kind (that goes for all vehicles really). I also would hand apply a sealer like Jet Seal. It will help prevent future oxidation from being so bad and will help stop that process.

    No it doesn’t.

Autowashes use harsh soaps that strip my high quality products off my truck. It also dehydrates rubbers and plastics like none other.

You can keep paint, rubber, and trim looking like new for a couple decades if you use quality protective products. Those autowashes just strip everything off leaving a vehicle unprotected to anything it comes in contact with.

My vehicles will remain handwash only.

And no one needs to wash their vehicle every day. That makes me cringe too.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Buy a can of clear and spray it yourself

OP you can do this. I mean its not really going to make it look worse...

Or bed line it. But thats still costly.

I’m an avid detailer. If my Tacoma ever got damage where it was up to me and my pocketbook to repaint I’d go bedliner for the lower maint.
