I ordered a 17 DCLB Sport 4x4 with premium tech with JBL. When I received my build sheet I seen the dealership entered the wrong code and ordered the tech package without JBL. The sales manager told me that I can get the truck that was ordered on 9/2 or wait until 9/23 to get the one with JBL. Is the JBL system a great upgrade that's worth waiting for?

Without. You will benefit so much more from a non JBL equipped system if you plan on upgrading speakers or the sound system at some point.

I always go with a loaded vehicle, if not for the features then for the fact that it will resale a bit better than a barebones model. With that being said, in my opinion, the JBL is worth it, the subwoofer in the back is nice and I'm a moderate audiophile and like it quite the bit. There are better options out there for aftermarket of course but I don't like screwing with my vehicles when it comes to electrical.

I have tech without JBL (we don't get a choice in canada for OR's)

It's ok, but if sound is important I would upgrade it for sure. My wifes kia has more kick after I threw a few parts at it.

No JBL would have been a deal breaker. The Sub is a nice addition to the sonic pallet

I had the same experience as you. I ordered a 2017 Tacoma TRD OR DCLB Premium Tech w/ JBL and I got an email from the dealer yesterday saying it will be built 8/20. I asked for the build sheet to confirm it has everything I wanted and when I looked, it didn't have JBL. They had requested just Premium Tech package. Now I'm waiting on the dealer to get back to me on when the JBL version will be built. Just curious, what area is your dealer located?

What size sub does the system have and where is it located?

In NC. The code for the tech packages have changed since they added the option not to include the moonroof. I think that's why the dealers are making the mistakes.

Don't know but it is located behind the right rear seat...IT's as much "sub" as I want. I don't listen to heavy Bass music People who run 3000+ watt bass would seem to want attention,,....I like being UNDER the radar.....

Find a dealer that has a Taco with the JBL in stock, bring the music you will be playing, be it mp3 thumb drive, CD or Bluetooth, try them on a non JBL like the one you're getting and then try the JBL and include your favorite station and make the call.

And btw, there's no one better qualified than you to make the call.

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!

I went to the dealership today to check out both systems. They only have the standard system in all of the tacos on the lot. I may try another dealership.

Absolutely. That is what I did. Played the same music on both.....The Sub won me over for another $700 or so for the JBL.

Yeah, I figured as much that's why I said "find". They're hard to come by stock

The dealer had a 16 Limited yesterday when I talked to salesman about trying it out and they sold it last night.

But in all honesty, I think the JBL sounds great compared to the basic. You will know the difference, but if you want reference status, than aftermarket like others here have said might be a better choice.

    Hope that helps

That looks like a great sytem. I use to install stereo systems for a living 20 years ago. I just don't think I want to tare apart a brand new truck. I need to let the newness wear off first.

They have an option with the P/T package that includes not having a moonroof. I did not know that. Making me think now. I ordered the P/T and it comes with a moonroof. I have no issue with a moonroof but if it can be ordered without I am all for it

I love the JBL upgrade. Great sound and hits hard if you want it to. Had it in my 06 and it was on the top of my list when I got my 16.
