I've got a silly question. Since my factory mirror utilizes the OEM backup camera, can the Wolfbox use this as a backup camera while in reverse separate from the Wolfbox rearview camera? In other words, if I use the Dongar adapter, does this automatically wire up the OEM camera?

I'm going to say that's a no. 1 - The Dongar adapter is just for power and 2 - the Wolfbox has it's own input for it's rear camera.

How does your factory mirror utilize the OEM camera?

Instead of the OEM backup camera showing up on the head unit, it displays on the rearview mirror, so there must be some kind of hookup to see the factory backup camera.

On your 13 or a newer model? Backup cams didn't come standard until around 2015.

On my 2013. This isn't the exact mirror but here's an example...

Just to others the dongar comes with a bunch different adapters.

I also plan on installing my G900Pro today with a Dongar. Will update later on how it goes. Good luck with your install!

I bought the wrong Dongar adapter so I just hardwired it up. I ran short on time today so I only have the mirror/front camera installed. I'll try to get the rear camera done tomorrow. I'm going to return the Dongar that I have since I don't really need it now.

I've discovered that Etsy has rear camera 3d printed mounts and brackets for almost every Toyota vehicle except the Tacoma. :smash:

I played around with the velcro today, but the camera needs to be mounted higher up and centered in the window for the best view. This configuration won't work for me. I'll have to figure something else out.

Install was pretty easy, I only did the front and cabin camera using the donger for power from the mirror.

Mounted on the right side(passenger side) of the rear view mirror so it don't obstruct vision at all and still is located good. I did stick it right to the windshield because the film they give ya just didn't work out. It works pretty good and clear enough if needed in court for sure. I am having issues with connecting with the wi fi though, sometime it does others it don't. Sure it is me, was pressed for time yesterday and raining today so this week is another time.
Total install time so far about 15 minutes.

My G900PRO arrived yesterday, and I mounted it to the factory mirror mount using the Wolfbox plastic mount. It feels strong enough to me. I know some people prefer metal mounts, but I don’t think they are necessary. I used the Dongar Pro adapter, which works perfectly on my 2020 with the Homelink mirror.

I removed the cabin light/sunglass panel, tucked everything neatly inside, and mounted the GPS antenna to the metal roof. I might look for a shorter USB-C cable with a 90-degree bend for a cleaner setup, but it works fine for now. The most frustrating part was peeling the backing off the 3M tape on the Dongar Pro. I had to use needle-nose pliers to get it done. For now, I’ve mounted it to the windshield, but if the battery life is good enough for 24-hour mode, I’d like to move it into the headliner later.

For the rear camera, I’m still deciding where to mount it. The license plate would be the cleanest option, but it’s probably too low. Most likely, I’ll mount it under my RTT, but that might not look great with the wiring and could be a hassle when I remove the tent. I’ll experiment and see what works best.

I want to purchase one since I have a softopper obstructing my rear view. I would have to figure out a mounting option for the rear view. Does anybody have some pictures of it being mounted on the license plate and the view it gives out thanks?

Updating this. Appears it will connect to a 2017, but the continuous recording function will not operate unless you have the factory homeland mirror. Fuse taps it is. :welder:

Still on the fence about mine, although I might be stuck because I threw away the box it came in. Overall, the concept, quality, and functionality of the mirror/camera is great, I'm just turning into an old school guy and I kind of miss my factory mirror already. Maybe it just takes time to adjust, or maybe I'll just uninstall and sell the Wolfbox g900pro and go with a dedicated camera only system. Will update later.

I tossed the box too. Finding a decent spot to mount the rear camera on the inside of the truck is harder than I thought. The Wolfbox is neat, but I think the factory rearview mirror with a separate front and rear dash cam would have been the better option.

If only there was a way to mount the WB rear camera in the same location as the factory one. This way you could still use the backup feature and the lines should theoretically line up. I tried doing this with mine last weekend and ended up butchering up the handle. Ordered a replacement for that. Maybe someone with a 3D printer will come up with a solution one day.
