I thought about this spot too but is the view too low? Also, what do you do if you need to access the spare?

The image is better than I thought it would be .Plus its nice to be at plate height of the car behind and also very convenient when backing up to hook up a trailer .Seems to stay cleaner than the tailgate cam lens . I made a mount using a small piece of aluminium L stock that is held in place on the bar backside with 3m tape. If I have to access the spare quick I will just pull it of to drop the tire .Once its wam out I will print a mount that clips on and off .

Damn that’s disappointing to hear! I just got the Wolfbox and have been wanting to mount my rear camera to the third brake light, but if it can’t take the extreme weather I don’t know if I’ll do that anymore

I have a Rig’d swingout I take off when we are towing with our trailer. So I mounted my camera onto a magnetic mount that I painted to match the powder coated swingout. That way I can remove it and easily stick to the truck while towing. It’s a different type of camera than yours though.

I have an L shape bracket attached to the roof rack. It was left over form a bumper install. The height is real nice from a viewing perspective and not looking through the cab is amazing. I used heavy duty 40lbs velcro to get the camera on the bracket. It's been holding strong for years. Pic is really zoomed in.

Here is a side shot normal view so you have an idea how much it sticks out. I needed to bring mine out/further to the rear in order to pass the spare tire on the lower end of the view.
