I agree they find any weakness , I live on an island over populated with deer and no natural predators .

Deer eat all kinds of vegetation. They're especially fond of the things humans plant in their yards and of "crops" grown in the hills.

A part of the management problem is population control. Let's say you decide it takes 1,000 wolves spread how ever to manage the deer population. So long as a balance is maintained, things might work. But as soon as the food supply or predators migrate to another area, there's imbalance. Should prey decline, domestic animals will become food. Should the predators decline, then the deer population will increase. Either way, how man lives and occupies the land means animals cannot migrate as easily as they once did.

    .
The other problem OZ is that there are on ramps and off ramps in these areas, build a fence and the deer just go up the ramps most likely, unless they are lucky enough to figure out where these routes intersect the freeway is in fact feasible to do a fence, no one in the state is gonna authorize the millions of dollars it would take to design and build tunnels.

What about culling? More than likely, it's off the plate so to speak--people don't want to kill them. To me, relocation just moves the problem elsewhere.

I feel as if there is a win-win solution in situations like these and that is to cull the overpopulation and distribute the meat to the needy.

We have a hunting season here , the problem is that the deer live in amongst the residential areas where you aren't allowed to shoot .

We do get the occasional cougar that swims across in the saltchuck from the neighbouring island , but more often than not , people freak when they see a cougar in their backyard and it's the cougar that gets wacked by animal control .

I think the idea that there is no government plan to reintroduce wolves to California has been established. Or maybe it hasn't.

But if it were, it would only be logical to reintroduce the grizzly, too. I mean, it is on the flag.

From what I heard bears can't keep up with the new breed of super wolf.
