When you took it off reverse, did idle go to normal?

You may be ok. Drive it about 20 miles and see if the idle has returned to normal. Some Toyotas act funny that way when disconnecting the battery. It resets some defaults. It would happen to my daughter’s 07 Corolla.

You were right Dm, didn’t end up needing the battery either but I was overdue for a new one anyway so I kept it. I cleaned up my throttle body and MAF which were both super dirty and now I have a nice idle. New alternator is doing good too so I think everything is fixed now. It definitely must have reset my idle when I disconnected the battery, and it was idling rough because my MAF was so dirty and it hadn’t re learned how to accommodate that yet lol.
